San Diego Chargers Tickets – Chargers’ Picks Top AFC West Grades

When it came down to the AFC West, it was tough to determine which team came out the winner in the 2010 NFL Draft. Each team in the division did an exceptional job focusing on gaps in their lineups, but many analysts pushed the San Diego Chargers to the top of the pack. The Chargers did some wheeling and dealing in order to nab the players they had their eye on, and the gamble seems to have paid off. The Chargers finished easily on top of the AFC West last season, followed by the Denver Broncos.

The Chargers addressed a much-talked-about need early on by trading up with the Miami Dolphins to the 12th overall pick in the first round. With it, the Chargers picked up Fresno State running back Ryan Mathews, who has all the makings of a franchise running back. He is especially needed after the team parted ways with longtime star running back LaDainian Tomlinson, who has found a new home with the New York Jets. Combining Mathews’ talents with that of current running back Darren Sproles, the Chargers have created a multi-functional running game. The duo is sure to create the type of plays that have made San Diego Chargers tickets so popular. The best place to find tickets is online.

The Chargers were dormant for the second round, but switched their focus to the defense for the next few picks. In Round Three, they used the selection they picked up from the San Francisco 49ers to land Washington linebacker Donald Butler. His Cialis status as a potential starter is questionable, but even if he doesn’t become a star on offense, he could still make a major contribution on special teams. In the fourth round, the Chargers selected Kansas free safety Darren Stuckey, who could prove to be a steal. In the later rounds, the Chargers added North Carolina defensive tackle Cam Thomas (Round Five), Tennessee quarterback Jonathan Crompton (Round Five) and Miami tight end Dedrick Epps (Round Seven).

The Denver Broncos were about as talked-about as any team during the 2010 NFL Draft because of one of their first-round picks. The Broncos had two picks in the first round and used the first (22nd overall) on Georgia Tech wide receiver Demaryius Thomas. The chatter on Thomas was quickly eclipsed when the Broncos used their second first-round pick to nab the overanalyzed Florida quarterback Tim Tebow. Tebow was a standout in college, but many have questioned how well his methods would fit in the pro schemes. He will likely sit behind quarterbacks Kyle Orton and Brady Quinn for at least a few games.

The Kansas City Chiefs impressed with their first two selections. They had the fifth overall pick in the first round, and used it on Tennessee strong safety Eric Berry. In the second round, they added what could be a prolific offensive weapon in Mississippi running back Dexter McCluster. The Oakland Raiders don’t have history on their side, but their defensive selections in the first and second rounds look promising. With the eighth overall pick, the Raiders selected Alabama linebacker Rolando McClain. In the second round, they added Texas defensive tackle Lamarr Houston.
