Wicked Tickets – See This Remarkable Tale of Two Witches in Massachusetts

Apparently it’s not so easy being green; just ask Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, best known for her role in L. Frank Baum’s classic book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The misunderstood Elphaba gets a chance to tell her side of the story in this modern musical Wicked. Audiences are treated to a little bit of a back story on the Land of Oz long before Dorothy and her little dog Toto were blown in on the wind of a tornado. The production is currently being featured in Boston and you will want to see this enchanting tale unfold live onstage. Purchase your own pair of Wicked tickets online today.

Wicked premiered at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco in 2003 and by fall of the same year it opened on Broadway Silagra at the Gershwin Theatre. Since then the musical has become one of the most popular stage productions throughout the world and has been nominated for and won several awards.

In both The Wizard of Oz’s book and the 1939 movie, it is fairly easy to distinguish between good and evil. The Wicked Witch of the West seems bent on inflicting revenge upon the frightened Dorothy, who wears her gifted glittering pair of ruby red slippers, something the witch believes are rightfully hers. Wicked introduces a more complicated history, suggesting perhaps that the Wicked Witch of the West wasn’t always so wretched.

Elphaba and Glinda (the Good Witch) both were students at Shiz University, studying sorcery. Their initial rivalry is later smoothed over and they ultimately become fast friends, determined to uproot the many injustices they see taking place in the Land of Oz. Unfortunately, quarrels over lovers get in the way and both are branded with their future names: the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good. The second act of the musical features overlapping stories as Dorothy enters the picture where her house lands on Elphaba’s sister, Nessarose.

The musical ties together the original storyline from The Wizard of Oz with a much sunnier view of Elphaba’s role as the Wicked Witch of the West. In the end it seems things turn out alright for the green-skinned unpopular witch, as well as for her friend Glinda the Good.

Wicked is a marvelous production that is a must-see show for any Oz fan. The musical is being held at the Opera House in Boston and you will want to reserve seats early to get a spot near the front of the stage. You are bound to enjoy catchy musical numbers like “Dancing Through Life,” “What Is This Feeling?” and “The Wizard and I.”

Allow yourself an evening to be whisked away to the theater and enter a magical land of sorcery, wizards, talking animals and flying. This popular production definitely goes to show that more often than not, there is more to the story than initially meets the eye.
