Dave Matthews Band Tickets – Last Summer on the Road
It’s hard to imagine a summer without the Dave Matthews Band but alas, that is what we are facing in 2011. The popular jam-rock band recently announced they will be taking a much-needed break from touring next year and although their hiatus is well deserved, fans will be a tad lonely without a rousing rendition of “Ants Marching” to liven up the summer months.
Luckily for diehard fans, DMB is enjoying one last hoorah on the road this year, playing old favorites as well as some new hits from their latest album Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. You can see the group live on stage by going online and buying your very own pair of Dave Matthews Band tickets as soon as possible.
The Dave Matthews Band has remarkably carried on quite well despite some heavy blows over the past few years, most notably when saxophone player LeRoi Moore died in August 2008 after an ATV accident. Matthews reflected on the incident in an interview with the Post Gazette, saying, “In a strange way, his death brought us even closer together or at least inspired us to move forward honoring him as a unit rather than running away from his death and from each other.” He went on to emphasize that Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King became a testament to the band’s “healthy response to a difficult situation.” DMB is currently on tour throughout North America with their last shows this year scheduled for September 17 and 18 at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Ill.
The Dave Matthews Band has been on the scene since the early 1990s when they landed on the college circuit, capturing young fans’ ears with their fusion of jazz, funk and rock. Their first EP, Remember Two Things, was released in 1994, followed closely by their full-length debut Under the Table and Dreaming. Their career really began to take off with the popular singles “What Would You Say,” “Ants Marching” and “Satellite.” Suddenly the band realized they graduated from performing on just college campuses and started selling out stadiums and arenas around the country.
1996’s Crash was also a success, entering the charts at number two and quickly reaching platinum status. The group was tireless in the recording studio, delivering Before These Crowded Streets two years later to high critical acclaim. In addition, they started releasing a series of live albums that quickly became popular among their fan base, partly because of the inclusion of acoustic song renditions as well as Matthews’ continued collaboration with renowned guitarist Tim Reynolds.
The 2000s saw the band return to the studio on several occasions for Everyday, Busted Stuff and Stand Up. Matthews also released a solo CD called Some Devil in 2003. Their latest album, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, is considered by many to be their best effort as of late. Featuring songs like “Funny the Way It Is,” “Why I Am” and “You and Me,” the album is just another example of how DMB has managed to stay so popular.
