Jewel Tickets – Jewel Preps for the Release of Her Sophomore Country Set

Jewel first took a dip in the country music pool with the release of Perfectly Clear in 2008, and The Boot reports that she is poised to release her sophomore country album, Sweet and Wild, on June 8. Perfectly Clear debuted at the top spot on Billboard’s Country Albums chart, and its follow-up is likely to land near the top of the chart as well. The singer wed nine-time World Champion rodeo cowboy Ty Murray in between albums and told The Boot that her marriage gave her ample inspiration for songs.

Also between Perfectly Clear and Sweet and Wild, Jewel released the non-country album Lullaby. The spring 2009 release features the singer tackling classic children’s tunes like “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” and “Over the Rainbow” and was recorded near her Stephenville, Texas home. Jewel described the 15 tracks on Lullaby to The Boot as “all just mellow music to come home to, and relax to.” Country fans welcomed Jewel with open arms when she released Perfectly Clear, and although Lullaby was a success, they are likely happy to see her back in the realm of country with Sweet and Wild.

The vocals and guitar for Sweet and Wild were cut in Jewel and Ty’s Texas ranch, after which point she delivered the tracks to the country music capital of Nashville, where she and producer Nathan Chapman laid down the bass and drums for the record. “Then we built it out virtually. I went back home and Nathan would play guitar and sent [the tracks] to me and I’d send them to a friend in L.A. He played piano and sent it back,” Jewel explained to The Boot.

The Homer, Alaska native will kick off her Star Light Cafe Tour in Fargo, N.D. on June 1 and told The Boot, “I am so excited to hit the road. It gives me a great opportunity to spend some time with the fans. There is nothing more rewarding for me than getting the chance to perform some of my new songs along with the hits I’ve had over the course of my career. These shows really become a sneak peek into my songwriting and my life.” Fans can get that “sneak peak” by heading online for Jewel tickets.

Jewel will stop in cities like Milwaukee, Wis.; Chicago, Ill.; Florence, Ind.; Atlanta, Ga.; Huntsville, Ala.; Midwest City, Okla.; Arvada, Colo.; Boise, Idaho; Missoula, MT; Spokane, WA; Portland, OR and more before wrapping things up in Seattle, Washington on June 27. Beginning with a June 11 gig in Atlanta, legendary singer/songwriter Radney Foster will open for Jewel in 14 cities on her tour. Jewel previously gushed to The Boot, “I’m touring with Radney Foster; I can’t believe he’s coming on the road with me.”

On April 28 Jewel performed a pair of benefit concerts at Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe for Project Clean Water, offering a look at what fans can expect to see on her upcoming tour in support of Sweet and Wild. The singer told The Boot about the charity saying, “I founded Project Clean Water in 1997. We’ve put up 35 wells in 15 countries, so the money from these shows all goes to that.”
