There are approximately 6000 miles, and an 11 hour flight between Cape Town and London, but if you think that means that you will be straying completely outside of your comfort zone, then think again. South Africa, and in particular one of it’s most famous cities, Cape Town, is a wonderfully diverse place to visit, with stunning sights, captivating culture and much more. So whilst you will know that you’re not in London anymore, there are some aspects of the city that will make you feel as if you are in a home away from home.

The Big Issue

Whether you live in the centre of London, or have escaped from the rat-race to live further afield, one thing you will come across in almost every British town is people selling the Big Issue. The Big Issue magazine was launched in 1991 to help the homeless to help themselves, and in the 19 years since its conception it has provided jobs for people living in poverty, as well as altering the public perception towards homelessness. This magazine has now travelled overseas and it is something that you will see on the streets of Cape Town, just as you would in London. So, whilst you’re in that holiday spirit, why not pick up a copy – you’ll feel good about helping someone for the rest of the day.

A Night at the Theatre

One of the most popular things to do in London is undoubtedly to go to the theatre. Whether it’s the Royal Opera House, a play at the National Theatre, Levitra Professional or even a West End musical, it is one of the most widely-enjoyed evening’s entertainments available. However, this is also a popular pastime in South Africa, and Cape Town boasts a number of impressive theatres. The Baxter Theatre, for example, located in the Southern suburbs of Rondebosch, puts on everything from comedy and children’s plays, to ballet and Shakespeare. With both Brand Viagra a concert hall and a theatre hosting entertainment every night, you’ll be sure to find something to suit you. If you prefer a more cultural show, then you might want to head to the Artscape Theatre, the main performing arts centre in Cape Town, which includes an opera house, a theatre and a separate studio theatre.

Visit a Museum

Another of London’s biggest selling points is its wealth of museums. From the British Museum, to the Natural History Museum, to Madame Tussaud’s Celebrity Waxwork Museum there is something of interest to everyone. However, this is also something you will find in Cape Town. Whatever your cultural interests you will find a museum to suit you, be it the Holocaust Centre, the Gold of Africa Museum, the MTN Science Centre, or even the Muizenberg Toy Museum. There may not be quite as many museums as you will find in London, but those that they do have are just as intriguing.

So, if you love the comforts of home but are also in desperate need of a holiday, then head to Cape Town.

In South Africa’s equivalent of London, you will find a home away from home.
