Here are my Top 10 quarterbacks for fantasy football going into the 2010 season, listed in order as of July 8. (Note: I did not include Brett Favre on this list, as he’s not yet committed to playing in 2010.)

Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints: Brees is about as reliable as they come and he plays in an offense that he has completely mastered. Brees seems to make the correct read and throw on every passing play. He’s got a ton of weapons and he uses all of them. The Saints are one of the most dynamic offenses in the league, one that thrives on allowing Brees to drop back a lot. I wouldn’t chastise someone for taking Peyton Manning or Aaron Rodgers ahead of Brees, but I think Brees offers the best combination of reliability and upside.

Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts: One could certainly make an argument for Manning to be either number one or number three on this list, but I think second is the right position for him. You’re not going to be disappointed when you draft Peyton Manning, which makes him a great pick. His interceptions were a bit higher than normal in 2009, but he’s pretty much a lock to get you 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns.

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers: Rodgers is probably the most interesting fantasy quarterback this season. He was the best fantasy player in 2009 and could very well be that once again in 2010. However, he’s not as proven as either of the two aforementioned signal callers, which is why I have him third on the list. If I’m taking a quarterback early, I want to feel safe in the pick. Rodgers definitely has the most upside of any QB, though.

Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys: I’m higher on Romo than most are this season, but he’s got so many weapons that it’s hard not to love the team’s offensive potential. The Cowboys have the talent to be the team that both fans and opposing teams circle on their NFL team schedules this season. With a versatile running game, a top-flight tight end and three good wideouts, Romo could be in for a really big season.

Tom Brady, New England Patriots: Brady had a really solid 2009 season, despite coming off a horrific knee injury he suffered in the 2008 opener. He should be fully recovered from his surgery this season, but now Wes Welker’s status is unclear. Brady could very well be a Top 3 quarterback if things go well this year, but there’s some risk involved in drafting him.

Matt Schaub, Houston Texans: Schaub finally stayed healthy last season and we saw what he’s truly capable of in this offense. With a running game that should improve in 2010, the Houston offense as a whole could be scary in 2010. Health is still a concern for Schaub, but a minor one.

Eli Manning, New York Giants: Manning did a great job to help bring along a young receiving corps in 2009. Steve Smith, Hakeem Nicks and Mario Manningham should be even better in 2010, which should lead to a successful campaign for Manning.

Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers: Rivers might not have many options on the outside now that Vincent Jackson has been suspended and could hold out beyond that suspension. Rivers will have Antonio Gates, but how high on this list can you really put a guy who will be working with Malcolm Floyd as his number one receiver?

Jay Cutler, Chicago Bears: Cutler had a tough first season in Chicago, but I fully expect him to bounce back in 2010. He finished the 2009 season exceptionally strong and has a new offensive No prescription cialis coordinator in Mike Martz this year. The receiving corps is still unimpressive, but Cutler’s talent can maximize their production.

Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens: Flacco could be in for a big increase in production in 2010. He’s got a new number one receiver to throw to in Anquan Boldin and the team drafted two talented pass-catching tight ends in Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta this offseason. With Ray Rice developing into one of the best running backs in the league, the Ravens’ offense could truly take flight in 2010.
