Speak to any car enthusiast about high end cars and chances are you’ll hear the same car manufacturers mentioned time and time again.

From Rolls Royces and Aston Martins to Bentleys and the American Maybachs, high end automobile luxury is definitely readily available – but you’re going to pay for it.

Looking at the Rolls Royce Phantom, for example, you’re going to have to pay out over 300,000 pounds. Most who can afford it would agree it’s worth it, however, thanks to the extra legroom in the back, the highest quality of leathers and veneers and a whole host of additional luxury and technology features (without even mentioning the stunning V12 engine).

Now whilst owning one of theses pieces of automobile excellence would be ideal, not everyone can afford the 300,000 price tag (which according to an article by the BBC on 28 May 2010, is actually 75,000 pounds more than the average cost of a house in the UK).

But although the majority of the general public may not be able to afford a Rolls Royce or a Bentley doesn’t mean that they have to settle for a car that is way down on the luxury echelons in comparison.

Take a look at Lexus dealers, for instance and you’ll be treated to a whole host of cars that whilst aren’t built to the same standards as those mentioned previously, are suitable for most people looking for a cheaper alternative to a high end, luxury car.

Aside from the many models available in Lexus dealers, it’s always worthwhile looking at most of the Jaguars that are currently on the market. Generally being slightly cheaper than the Lexus LS 600h L, they are that extra bit more affordable, but don’t skimp on quality.

The XJ, for instance – which is one of Jaguar’s oldest models, having originally being produced in the late 1960s – is into its fourth generation, which started in 2009. Prices for the XJ range from 53,900, which is for the 3 litre diesel luxury, but even this – which is over 30,000 pounds cheaper than the Lexus – still boasts an array of luxury aspects, from the latest in automobile technology to heated rear seats which are designed to match the contours of your body, more so than in most other mass produced cars.

High end luxury is something that we all dream of in a car. Unfortunately for a lot of people it remains nothing more than a dream, as they believe that they can’t afford such comfort and quality. The truth is that whilst luxury and quality does come at a price, it is in fact a lot more affordable than you may initially think.
