How to Read Blueprints

Before a home is built, you need a plan to show you what to do and what it should look like. Always begin with the end in mind.

If you were to just start building the house without a plan, then it would end up a mess. You would not even be able to buy any of the materials that one needs to build a house because you would not be sure of what you needed.

All of your measurements would be guesswork and totally off. Nothing would match up and you have to go back and tear the whole thing down before starting over again.

This is why people never just start building things without a plan and something that they can read to show them exactly what to do. These people that do this kind of work are called architects and draw up what are called blueprints.

Have you ever gone into a model home in a new neighborhood that was being built? They usually have two or three homes that are already built and have furniture and everything all set up inside of them.

They are there for people to walk through and see if they like the house and the floor plan. Just looking at a floor plan on paper can be hard to really visualize and see exactly what could fit inside each room or imagine what it would be like to walk from the front of the house upstairs to the master bedroom.

This is why model homes are built to help give people a better idea of what the house is like and if they would enjoy living there. Even though the floor plans on paper would show you everything from where each electrical outlet is located to how high the ceiling is to which way the doors open, sometimes it is better for people to actually experience the real thing themselves to give them a good idea of what the house really looks like.

Construction blueprints are made to serve as an instructional manual to the builders to show them exactly what to do. They include everything that you would need to know and show the electrical plans, mechanical plans, specialty requirements, and other types of things that they need to build.

They are called blueprints because most of these plans were drawn out on big blue paper and there would be several copies all rolled together. Look at the title page first because it will include a list of all the other types of drawings included in the packet and give you a key as to how to actually read it.

For example, they may use certain symbols and abbreviations for things that you will need to know before starting on this project. You can always go back to this page if you need to refer to something that you do not understand.

Look at the scale of the plans to figure out how big the building is actually going to be when all is said and done. Everything is drawn in proportion so it is easy to convert the measurements to what they really should be.

Usually one eighth of an inch will represent one foot of actual construction material. Depending on who drew up the plans, this number could vary a little bit.

First review the architectural drawings because they will give a good idea of what Kamagra jelly the finished project is supposed to look like. They are very easy to picture and will help give you a good understanding of the project.

Then look over the mechanical drawings because they show all the heating and air conditioning systems and plumbing information. They are very helpful because they will tell you where to leave room for air ducts and vents.

The last type of plans are going to be the electrical blueprints that show every location that you can think as to where to build light switches, light fixtures, receptacles, wiring, and outlets. Some blueprints come with a spec book at the end that provide information about what kinds of materials to use and the best method to build the new dream house that you have always wanted.
