When you first start to promote your online business, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to tell that you need to focus on obtaining targeted traffic. If you’re good enough you can target your traffic down to a more defined level. It is a pretty amazing process to see how well this can be done.

I like to call this process remarketing or retargeting. When people visit out website to check us out and don’t purchase a produce, they are cookied. When they visit other places on the internet our banners stalk them.

I think it is really exciting to see how well this retargeting works. The search engines don’t have the ability to do this for you and when you do your SEO campaign you can’t do that either.

You have to use some technology that is your own that you can buy or use someone else’s product that is already set up.

This is something that is important and for you to think about. When you get your traffic from the search engines, technically, they are in charge of your business. They are the ones that are sending you traffic and they can stop anytime that they want to. It’s also works that way with some pay per click advertising. Just as you’re doing very well they will raise your bids.

You also have to be careful because some of these companies will ban you and if they do they ban you for life. This is one reason why I encourage other people to go outside of the realms of marketing their business just on the search engines. There is all kind of things you can do. This is what I like to call paid media. Online you have what is called ad networks, exchanges and aggregators. You can find these places by doing a search engine search on those terms. What these companies do is sell the remainder of the leftover advertising that they have left on their websites. There are like a billion pages of sites that you can put a banner up on and the paid media campaigns are rip and very good.
