Experienced skiers should head to Palandoken, where many of the most difficult courses can be found. It has recently become one of Turkey’s more popular ski resorts. It is home to the longest and most tricky courses while also having great snow conditions. The cost of hotel accommodation usually includes free ski lifts and downhill skiing or snowboarding runs. Instruction is available on site and there are also ski hire shops for all equipment needs.

Turkey is a very cheap place to hire ski equipment, with the kit starting at twenty dollars a day, twenty-five for snowboards. There are other ski centres in Kars, Kayseri and Erzincan, all of which have a range of great accommodation and equipment hire.

Turkey may be well-known for its historical landmarks, hot Mediterranean resorts, swimming sun bathing and water sports, but there is more to this incredible holiday destination.
