There’s More to Orlando and Florida Than Just Theme Parks.

Orlando in Florida is most famous for being the home of Sea World, Universal Studios and Disney World, as well the as newly opened Wizzarding World of Harry Potter. All these factors make it the number spot in America for family holidays and most kids will at some point hassle their parents to take them to Florida on vacation.

If you plan to avoid the children traps where adults are forced to pay extortionate amounts of money to eat and drink, there are lots of natural attractions in Florida.

At 2501 Old Lake Wilson Rd Kissimmee Orchid World has thousands of dazzling flowers in a beautiful natural setting that encompasses rainforest and waterfalls. The squawking of parrots and other birds can be heard as you walk around and this amazing attraction is open every day from 9am to 4.30pm except Sundays and public holidays.

Alternatively the Harry P. Leu Gardens is at 1920 Forest Avenue and you can take a tour of this old nineteenth century house and its amazing grounds. Special events are held in this marvellous setting and this is a particularly memorable place to go for those who want to get married in Florida.

There are many such parks and gardens but one other one worth mentioning is the historic Bok Sanctuary. There are no spring boks as the name might suggest but instead gorgeous gardens filled with woodfowl. The park is centred around an old Carillion bell which chimes every afternoon at 3pm.
Orlando is also a good place to watch sport with the excellent Orlando Magic basketball team being one of the top attractions.

Car hire Florida and car hire Orlando airport are incredibly popular and Florida is the busiest car hire location in the world. Therefore people like to prebook their hire cars when they come to Orlando international airport which is the main airport of the state of Florida. They can always get good deals in what is the car rental capital of the world as there is so much choice including National, Avis, L & M Car Rental, Dollar, Enterprise, Alamo, E-Z Rent a car, Budget and Thrifty.

Not only are there hundreds of flights from Orlando airport to destinations around the world but you can also travel easily to Atlanta airport which is the world’s busiest airport Tadalis SX and one of the most well connected within America. Among the international flights from Orlando airport Lufthansa goes almost every day to Frankfurt in Germany.

Traffic is not the best in Florida but having a car is certainly the easiest way to get around the sprawling city of Orlando, especially if you are going out of the south to the theme park locations of Lake Buena Vista or Kissimmee. All of these major theme parks are signposted as soon as you come out of the airport. Drivers can be quite aggressive in this part of the world so watch out for tailgating. The best way to avoid it is to stay in the right hand (slow) lane.

With a car all the wonders of Florida are open to you. My personal favourite is the Florida EcoSafaris at Forever Florida which has all sorts of impressive animals. In this wild setting you can take a safari to see alligators, Florida black panthers and bears too.
