A Few From Many Good Reasons Why A Rabbit Run Makes Sense
Rabbits are favored animals for making pets out of. They are clean, easy to feed, docile, and very cute. Of course, as a pet owner you want to take care of them as best as you can. One of the things that most pet rabbit owners forget is that rabbits need exercise too. Over time, your rabbits could lose muscle mass and also get sick more easily. You can’t very well get a lot of exercise in a small cage right? This is where a rabbit run comes in handy.
A rabbit run is a more spacious enclosure for rabbits, though it is more temporary than an actual cage or hutch. While cages and hutches have floors raised above ground level, a run has the ground itself as the floor. Think of runs as cages with the usual walls and roofs, but without the floor. The idea is to allow the rabbits to enjoy a more comfortable floor, particularly when the run is used outdoors.
A rabbit run is very useful because it allows you to let your pet get exercise without sacrificing a too much security. The problem is that you cannot just let your rabbit frolic in your back yard. It might get hurt out of curiosity or be attacked by its natural predators – all the more worrisome is that pet rabbits are not nearly as capable of survival as their wild counterparts.
If you want to buy or build a rabbit run, then you will need to consider the material you will use. A simple wire fence topped with a fabric mesh is okay, but it does not provide much protection against determined predators. Using heavier materials like wood and solid metal provides Tadacip more protection, since ground predators like foxes can no longer take advantage of light construction by lifting it up. Using wood does add the problem of wood care against rot, and the weight can make these runs difficult to handle. Price is also an issue, and more refined designs will of course be more costly.
Because it is not meant as long-term habitats and are mostly used for periodic exercise sessions, a rabbit run is best made to be collapsible. That way you can set it up easily when it is needed and disassemble it for compact storage. This is a good way of extending the life span of the run, by allowing you to keep it away from the elements.
Just because these runs are spacious does not mean they are a good alternative to having separate cages or hutches for your rabbits. For one thing, a run does not provide a separation between rabbits, which means diseases can be passed more easily. Reproduction can also be a problem – do keep your mature males and females separate, unless you intend for them to breed.
The best way to keep two rabbits is to get a double rabbit hutch. A double unit is more cost-effective than two separate units, and it also makes transport easier. Browse through some choices today, if you plan to get more than one rabbit.
