Are Stun Guns Legal In New York?

Stun guns are only legal in 42 states. Of the nine remaining states, New York is one of those states that deem stun guns an illegal device to have. This means that even if you wanted to simply keep your stun gun in the safety of your home, it would not be allowed. Even though pepper spray is legal in all 50 states, there are a number of states and cities that have set restrictions on the type of strength as well as the size which either make them acceptable or not. Once they have purchased the pepper spray from an approved source they may then keep their pepper spray at their home for self defense, or if they chose, they may also keep their pepper spray on their person when out.

Even though you can’t purchase a stun gun in New York, you will find that pepper spray is just as effective at hindering an attacker who may decide to victimize you. After all it’s better to have a form of self defense than no defense at all.
