When the stun gun was first invented it was designed with safety in mind. After all when it comes to a highly regarded non-lethal self defense device such as the stun gun, it needs to be safe for countless individuals to utilize when their safety is in jeopardy.

However it is important to remember that a stun gun is safe to operate, if it is used correctly. This means that the person who is operating the self defense device needs to make sure that they don’t abuse the defense weapon which is ultimately constructed to protect them.

Can A Stun Gun Produce Fatal Results?

There are instances however when a person in danger may want to vent their fury upon their aggressor with their self defense weapon. It is important that even though you are in danger, that you remain calm. After all your main goal is to escape from a situation that could otherwise prove severe if you abuse the device that is intended to help you.

However even though some people may be trigger happy with their stun guns, these are ultimately safe devices to utilize. They have been designed with a high voltage and a low amperage that works together to successfully disable an attacker.

Because of the low amperage you would not be able to kill a person with your stun gun. A stun gun only has 0.003 amps, which means that a household outlet with 16 amps and a Christmas tree bulb with 1.0 amp are more than likely to kill an individual first than a stun gun. It’s not the volts within a stun gun that are dangerous to an attacker it’s the amps.

When a stun gun is utilized it quickly works to immobilize an attacker’s muscles. As a result stun guns do not rely on the pain factor, but focus on the temporary lack of muscle control that an attacker faces when in direct contact with a stun gun.

Once you have utilized your self defense weapon it is important that you retreat to a safe location where you can contact your local law enforcement. Once you have informed them of the whereabouts of the immobile offender there is no need to stick around only to stun your attacker again. Leave any further necessary immobilization down to law officials who are trained and who can easily apprehend and bring the person in.

Your stun gun should only be utilized for your own personal protection. It is not a toy to be abused and should not be repeatedly operated on an attacker who is already down and who is already suffering from the effects of your stun gun.

By making sure that you correctly operate your stun gun you will be able to fully appreciate what it can do for you when your personal protection is in question. Only utilize your stun gun when you need it and then only operate it to hinder a person from attacking you. Once you have done that, leave the area.
