Who Can Suffer From Hair Loss?

Most people do not believe that hair loss can happen to them. The truth is that anyone can encounter balding. People all over the world suffer from this on a daily basis and there is nothing they can do about it. This article will discuss this issue and describe who can suffer from it.

Balding occurs when follicles in the head do not produce hair. This may be due to various reasons. The procedure is quite complex. Follicles go through two major phases when growing, a growing and rest phase. This is typical for both men and women. The growing part can last anywhere from 2 to 6 years. Every month it will grow approximately one half inch. When it is done with the growth phase it then enters the rest phase. During the this part it will not grow and remains the same length. After this phase it will fall out and then grow back in. This occurs when the hair does not grow back.

If it doesn’t grow back it is considered hair loss. Some types only last for a while, whereas some may be permanent. This depends directly on what causes the loss. It can be caused from malnutrition, medication, disease, an intense shock or excessive styling. Things like malnutrition, medication, and excessive styling will allow it to stop growing back. Intense shock or disease on the other hand can go either way, depending on if the follicle is damaged.

After knowing the facts about this type of condition, it is evident that it can happen to anyone. Anyone can become subject to a disease or styling too much. People feel that this cannot happen to them however it can. There are specific names for it in women and in men. When it occurs in men it is called male pattern balding, but when it happens to women it is called female pattern balding. Seeing that they have names for both men and women that bald it should be clear that it can happen to anyone.

After knowing that this can happen to anyone, the next question is what they should do to prevent it. Although it can happen to anyone the prevention methods are different. Women should consider not styling their hair as frequently or as tight and eat the proper foods. Men should also eat the proper foods. Both men and women cannot do much to prevent diseases or switch medications, because sometimes they are a fact of life and nothing can be done.

After taking all of this into consideration, I feel that the question of who can be affected by hair loss has been answered. Many people live with this condition every day. Some of them may have the chance to get it to grow back, but some may be subject to permanent conditions. People should take all the necessary precautions to prevent it, but sometimes that is not enough. Men and women can both lose hair and they should both know the facts about this.
