A Chiropractic Perspective on Health Care

Maintaining good condition of our body both physically and mentally has to be the priority of every human being. We are given the right to choose in our life, due to our conscience that dictates us most of the times what is there right or wrong for us, but unfortunately the reality plays such a role that sometimes affects not only our decisions, but also the way our body is functioning. Once the body is affected, then pain interferes and we see ourselves in the position to appeal to medical care. Nervous system together with the brain are the ones to emphasize the existence of pain, and gradually these two will start to wear out overwhelmed by the intensity of pain they can not cope with at a certain moment.

In this respect we try to find solutions, to treat the disease that generates the pain, relieving the nervous system from taking over a task that is not part of its normal functionality. This is where the chiropractic steps in. Due to its holistic methods of health care, chiropractic carries within its definition an entire philosophy of healing. First of all, the emphasis is put on our body capability to heal itself. Second, the nervous system that is strictly related to the spine, is put back on its normal track by physical therapies, exercising, activities that are conceived to rehabilitate the normal functioning of the spine and as such of the nervous system.

Most of you would probably wonder what is the difference between chiropractic and medicine, what makes one better than the other, why should anyone choose one over the other? The answer lies in that medicine generally has one approach in curing a health problem, whereas chiropractic perspective over health care approaches the matter from different points of view. But let’s consider the matter from its very beginning. David Palmer, in 1895, was known to be the first doctor to discover that a displacement of the vertebrae can be the reason that prevents the body of having a normal flow of energy running inside the body. Therefore he reached the conclusion that a correct functioning of a spine is a way to maintain the vital energy within ourselves ensuring us of an optimal level of health.

Since then, chiropractic has become a way to treat the disease from the spinal perspective, considering that where the nervous system is not properly operating the body is more prone to fall in the hands of disease, hence pain. But the chiropractic approach doesn’t stop here, it appeals also to the nutrients that we feed our body with. In this respect, chiropractic approaches the matter from a preventive point of view, considering that prevention as a method is to be preferred over a disease treatment method.

It goes without saying that we would rather prevent an ailment to be part of our daily living then to let it insinuate inside our system affecting our body well being and our mental health as well. Therefore a nutrition plan will always be part of the chiropractic perspective over maintaining the good health of our body.
