Potty Training Your Dog
You just got a dog and he/she is so cute and cuddly and has that irresistible dog smell, but you are seriously thinking of keeping Mr. Snuffles outside the house – permanently! It seems like your little buddy has gotten the whole dog training thing all wrong. A couple of things are a lot more frustrating than having a puppy that is very difficult to potty train. Thank goodness, there are a couple of tricks that will make Mr. Snuffles’ housebreaking a whole lot easier than you think. All you will need to do is to follow the guideline to successfully potty train your doggy.
a.Make sure that you watch out for very subtle signs that indicate that your dog wants to go. A good indication that will help you know that your dog wants to go is when your dog walks around while sniffing the floor. It can be pretty embarrassing for friends and family to come into your home and smell dog pooh and urine. Even if you have very strong cleaning agents that will effectively get rid of the dog pooh smell, would you rather spend your time washing and cleaning your carpet and furniture instead of taking your dog outside to do his/her business? Potty training your dog is way better than cleaning up after he/she has soiled the carpet or furniture.
b.Immediately carry or lead your doggy to his or her designated potty place. The designated potty place can be outdoors or a potty training pad, just understand that whichever place you choose you will need to stick with it. Non A well trained dog can be taken almost anywhere and is a real delight to have around.
c.Praise your dog each time he or she goes where they are supposed to. Showing affection and praising him/her will really help your dog to understand that they have done something good to please you. This will teach your doggy that his/her actions can also affect your actions as well, and he/she will be more than willing to please you again – you see? Potty training your dog is really not hard at all.
d.Buy a crate for your dog to sleep in while you are away from the house. Make sure that you choose a crate that is quite large, so that your dog can lie down comfortably in it. Dogs usually will not soil their beds – this will teach the dog that he/she can hold it until he/she goes to his/her training pad or outside. If the crate you bought for your puppy is way too large, the puppy may move to a corner of the crate to potty instead of waiting until he/she gets out.
e.Remove your puppy from the crate and take him/her outside after you have arrived home.
f.Make sure that you pay attention to your dog’s schedule.
-Take the dog out at least every two hours when he/she is not in the crate.
-20 to 30 minutes after he/she has eaten
-After naps
-Before bedtime
-First thing in the morning
Taking him/her out all the time will reduce the possibility of accidents.
