Can A Storage Bedroom Set Be Fun For Your Kids?

Children’s storage beds are no doubt a great choice for parents. They provide you with plenty of space to organize your children’s clothing and possessions. However, getting the storage bedroom furniture and actually getting the kids to use it is a bit more difficult. That is unless you can find a way to make the kids storage beds more fun for them to use. When you do that, you can teach them organization skills while keeping yourself from tripping over building blocks and dolls, not to mention piles of clothes.

There is a variety of ways to make storage bedroom furniture more enjoyable for your children. Before you even purchase it, consider these tips and tricks to getting the kids to love it and to love using it.

– Give them a say in what they like and what you buy. For example, if your daughter really loves the white storage furniture, that gives them that extra bit of ownership in it. They are more likely to enjoy it and to use it.

– Give them space! Look for kid’s beds with storage that give them added storage space in their headboard. This might be a bookshelf type of design or you can sometimes include a drawer or alcove in the furniture’s headboard. That can be their hiding spot for their special toys or items.

– With most storage beds, there are between three and six drawers on either side of the bed (sometimes only on one side.) These areas are great for clothing or smaller toys. Allow your child to pick what goes in which drawer. This is another way of giving them ownership in the actual kids bedroom furniture. They are more likely to use it in this particular case.

– Allow any bookcase storage in the headboard to be for your child’s collectables. Perhaps his building block creation can sit there or her doll collection can be stored there. This makes the entire space more fun to be a part of.

– For older children, incorporate items into the space that give them more control over their surroundings such as a lamp so they can read a book or a drawer that allows them to store private notes and belongings.

Make It a Game

After the initial phases of picking out and setting up your children’s storage bedroom furniture, the next step is to keep them using it. Allow the child to help make decisions about what goes were, as it often does not matter of socks go in one drawer and t-shirts in another. Once the organization is complete, the next step in the process is to make cleaning up and using those drawers fun. Challenge them to complete the clean up to a song, for example. You can also encourage your child through a promise that you will not go through their belongings if they keep it organized.

Finding a way to use kids storage furniture in your child’s room is easy enough to do. Making the process of cleaning fun can be more challenging but having a place for every item is helpful.
