Augustus made Capri to his personal private shelter, today by car just a 2.5 hours ride to Rome. He started building for himself a living place of 12 villas, which got later finished up by Caesar Tiberius, who took this residence on Capri over after him. One can visit all these ruins still today. But there are many more ancient locations.

It is Naples, Sorrento and Salerno, but also the Vesuvius with Pompeii and Heraculeum, which are all very close to it. The closest airport is located in Naples, that’s why one has to take a ship from there to Capri. It is recommended to not bring a car to the island, but instead using the extra parking spaces provided by the city of Naples.

But the truth is that Naples, Capri, Sorrento, Pompeii, Heraculeum and Rome are one of the most important historical play grounds for all Roman History, which are so perfectly locating close together, that one only needs to go for one vacation time, experiencing and enjoying them all at once !
