Wedding Planning Advice: What to Do, When to Do It
So, the man you love asked you to marry him, and you said yes. This is where the real work starts. You will have to start planning for your wedding. Where do you begin? How do you start? Do you worry about the wedding dress and the flowers first and the venue second? Or do you need to worry about all three simultaneously? Hold on a minute–catch your breath, slow down. There is no need to panic. Here is sound wedding planning advice on when to do what and why.
After Announcing the Engagement
1. Sit your families down and outline your wedding plans. Discuss everything from theme to color to the number of guests. Establish who will pay for what. Also, be willing to listen to your family’s wedding planning advice. The females of the family can be of some help, especially if they planned their weddings themselves.
2. Start looking at reception sites. If you book early, you can save a ton of money.
3. Discuss the wedding cake. As early as now, get quotes and ask for costings.
4. Start exploring your honeymoon options. Booking early will save you money.
Six Months Before Your Wedding
1. Order your dress, and be sure to leave time for adjustments that may be needed.
2. Choose your groomsmen and bridesmaids then order their outfits.
3. Book your hotel rooms and make arrangements for any of your guests who will need to travel quite a distance for your wedding.
4. Finalize your arrangements with the photographer, the DJ, and the caterer.
5. Finalize your honeymoon arrangements. Put down a deposit or at least buy your tickets.
Four Months Before Your Wedding
1. If you have not accomplished everything that you should have done six months before your wedding, now is the time to do so.
2. Buy the invitation cards and the thank you cards.
3. Get in touch with florists and ask for their ideas–as well as the pricing–for your wedding and reception floral arrangements.
4. Plan the rehearsal dinner. If you can find a friend willing to help you out with this (on top of giving you wedding planning advice), go ahead and let her help. You will need to free your hands for other important tasks.
5. Book your transportation. Again, the earlier you do this, the more you save.
Three Months Before Your Wedding
1. Send out your invitations.
2. Make sure that all the required documents have been completed, filled out, or sent in.
3. Choose your rings.
4. Finalize your arrangements with the florist.
5. Purchase the wedding decorations that you will need. Be sure to buy only those that your caterer or florist has not bought yet.
Of course, these are not the only things that you will have to be ready for. There are more, so I suggest you get a good guide that walks you through the process from start to finish. A good guide can show you how to throw your own wedding cheaply. At the same time, it will give you all the wedding planning advice you need to throw the wedding of your dreams at an affordable budget.
