The Paintball Field Makes the Difference

If you ever played army as a kid then you know how much fun hunting down the enemy, finding them, and destroying them is. Paintball is the kind of sport where you do nothing but test your skills against other like-minded people. It’s all about the gear, the guns and the fun. Racing around chasing each other, hiding and trying to outgun your friends. Paintball is a fast sport and if you’re not quick you’ll be shot.

I prefer woodsball to any other type of paintball game. The backyard is always too small and the paintball fields aren’t realistic. But when you get into the woods with your army and your enemy team the game is on. Set up your boundaries, split up into teams and let the strategy begin.

Whether you’re on a defensive team or an aggressive, marine style amphibious landing, offensive position, the fun is just beginning. Whenever we play nobody goes home un-painted. Everyone gets to shoot someone and everyone gets shoot. Oh and we leave a forest full of painted trees, rocks, and stumps.

When necessary, playing on a regular paintball field, the strategy is completely different. Although my favorite strategy is setting up a base of fire from one position and having someone maneuver around to an aggressive flanking position. Catching the enemy in a crossfire and winning the day. I’m not that fond of being put into a defensive position because the only thing that you can do is keep an eye on the enemy and shoot them when they are on the move. And of course keep from being shot yourself.

If we have to play paintball in the backyard, we have five acres so there’s a little more room, the space is wide open and I find myself crawling through the grass and weeds to keep hidden and of course keeping my distance. Which makes my shots harder as well. But I’m a good shot so I can use a little elevation and windage to hit my target. Sometimes I catch them off guard and they don’t even know where I was.

It doesn’t matter where we are when we play. If it’s in a densely wooded area, an actual paintball field, the back yard or even at the park we have loads of fun. It’s always fast paced and when it’s all over we’re all friends again and we always schedule our next mission before we leave the field.

The equipment is always the same regardless of the location. And safety is always our number one concern. Although we play like we were members of the first amphibious marine division we never draw blood. Paintball is really a safe sport and more fun than dancing on tables at your daughters wedding. Although, I’ve never tried dancing on a table before, we’ll save that for another time.

Paintball is more than just a game. If you really get into the action you become the sergeant or the private and use chess like strategies to find and defeat the enemy. Anyone at any age can play and if you don’t have the proper equipment there is always some close by and the price range is always within everyone’s budget.
