How to Get Into Internet Marketing
The opportunity to make a living as an internet marketer is a relatively new profession. A decade or so ago it was practically unheard of to be able to make a full time living by trading foods online. It’s easy to forget that web giants like Amazon have only been around since 1995.
People have taken a few years to come round to the realisation that the internet is a realistic option when it comes to developing a career. It could be argued that the reason for this ist hat the internet runs on technology that is foreign to the average career minded professional or non-geek.
For most people the prospect of having to get to grips with anything remotely technical can be a daunting one so it is understandable that they would be hesitant to try their hand at web marketing. You could be forgiven for thinking that it would be easier to set up a stall at a market fair selling goods that are tangible and using an actual cash register where you can visibly see your returns – but you couldn’t be further from the truth.
You don’t need to know how to hand code HTML or how to find your way round photoshop in order to design an attractive and functional website. Nor fo you need to be an expert in analysing web statistics and analytics to see how your sales campaigns are working. Not only are these skills easily learnable, but also cheap to source from the right suppliers.
So what has changed in the past 10 years? As technology has improved, it has become cheaper to make websites and with services such as WordPress you can easily maintain a simple to use and attractive website. Within just a few minutes you will be able to set up your own blog that can be added to for people to read in a matter of moments.
Such tools have opened the doors wide for marketers to try their hand at selling online. The need to be a computer geek is a thing of the past (however a few technical skills will clearly be of benefit!). All this means that it is now even easier for marketers to set up a shop on the internet, although those with a flair for design and informative, concise copywriting will have a distinct advantage over their competitors.
The biggest advantage of choosing to sell over the internet is the low barriers to entry in terms of price. Setting up a website costs very little and in some cases – nothing. The internet also offers an almost limitless resource for people who wish to learn all the required skills so if you are looking to teach yourself a few web design or development techniques then you will be spoilt for choice.
So when it comes to thinking about setting up your website, take some time out and put in plenty of research. You need to make sure that you know exactly what you are doing before you go investing your time and money in becoming an internet marketer.
