You should also know more than one language, especially if you live in a place that has a sizeable population that does not speak English.
While you only require being a high school graduate in order to qualify to apply for this job, you will have a better chance of getting it if you have already studied a course in fire science.
Even if you manage to join a fire department, you will be under probation for a specified period until you can get confirmed.
