“I hate my job.” Have you ever said those words? If you’re like most Americans, the answer is a decided yes. According to a recent survey by the job finding service Career Builder, this workplace dissatisfaction is higher than ever before. In the survey, it found that less that half of all Americans are currently satisfied in their jobs. The survey, which was taken in 2007-before the enormous economic uncertainty had hit-shows that even when times are good, people are unhappy with the way the working world is.

Interestingly, it is young people who are more likely to say, “I hate my job” than those who are older. According to the survey, only 39% of people under the age of 25 found that they were happy in their current job. There is a good reason for that. For the first time in many generations, young people are making less money than their parents made. More people than ever before have college educations and the competition for every last dollar has gotten hot. These young people inherently understand that to make more money, they will have to go outside the box.

Going to work each day and saying, “I hate my job,” is not a normal existence, even if it is the prevailing sentiment. More than that, it isn’t necessary. Sure, there are a few people who are more or less doomed to work that menial job until they die, but they are by far the exception. And of course there are people who are perfectly happy working 40 hours a week for a meager paycheck, with no dreams of ever doing anything more. If you fall into one of those two categories, move on. This article isn’t for you.

If, however, you belong to the increasing number of people that get up every morning and think to themselves: I really hate my job and I want something better for my life, then you need to start thinking of ways to change your situation. It isn’t impossibility. Not by a long shot. You can go back to school. You can start working towards that dream you’ve had since high school, whatever it may be. Or you can open yourself up to the limitless world of opportunities out there for young people interested in making more money and working for only themselves.

These opportunities, by and large, are in the online world. Though thousands and thousands of people are making a full time living with online marketing, there is plenty of room for you to do it, too. All you need are the tools and the information to get started. Best of all, online marketing doesn’t have to take up your entire day, so you can get started while still working at your old job. What other businesses can you start in your spare time? If you can find a good training program and put your heart and soul into it, you’ll never have to say, “I hate my job” again.
