Using Fear Appeal As a Persuasion Technique

Using fear as a persuasion technique is a highly effective controlling tactic. “Fear Appeal”, which is a form of mind control, is the term used to describe when using fear as an art of persuasion.

In order for a person to be successfully dominated by an agent or group that uses mind control; the person has to be totally dominated emotionally. This means the person surrenders fully to the emotional manipulation that is waged against them.

To implement a fear appeal tactic sucessfully, a fullout campaign is waged against an unwitting victim to render them emotionally unstable. A fear appeal is enforced by the manipulator who is called an agent to make sure the victim is totally left feeling emotionally unbalanced throughfright. If the fear appeal is indeed successful, the victim is then easier to manipulate. A frightened unstable person is an easier target when they are in afrightened emotional state. Waging a fear campaign against a target who is intended to be manipulated through mind control is typically broken down through the “fear appeal” first. There are 4 characteristic phases of a full out fear appeal against a person who isto be effectively manipulated by an agent. The 4 basic phases of a fear appeal are:

1. Threats – The type of threats an agent or perpetrator of brainwashing use may vary but theyall want the same results. They want to break the victim down through fear. Allthe threats have this component attached to it; “If you don’t do (whatever theagent wishes) “then this will happen to (either the victim or a loved one; this will include the details of the dastardly deed that is intended for an uncooperative victim.)

2. A Specific Junction in regards to the victimsbehavior-In this phase the agent will tell the victim how he is to behave and what he wants the victim to do. Once again there is a threat attached to noncooperation. The agent will start the command by saying ” I want YOU to” (and then demand whatever it is they wantthe victim to do)

3. Enforcing the reality of the threat – At this state of the fright appeal the agent will seeto it that the victim believes that the threat is real and show some sort ofevidence to substantiate the threat on some level. In reality the threat may not be real but is staged for the effect of realism.

4. Reinforces the ideas-in this last stage the agent will reinforce all theideas that were inflicted on the victim. They may also say that the victim now has the power to do it to others. The agent will say at this stage as well that if the victim doesn’t carry out what is demanded of him that is required; the threats originally stated will be carried out on him or her.

When a fear appeal is carried out against a person the threats appear very real to cause real fear in the victim. A threat may include harming a child or a loved one to get the victim to comply. These type of campaigns against people are waged to destroy and destabilize their mental state. When a person is in a constant state of fear they are more susceptible to mind control and manipulation. This serves the agenda of the agent which is the agent’s ultimate goal with the victim.
