5 Celebrity Examples a Courier Should Not Follow

Out there on the road, day in and day out, it’s all too easy for a courier to slip into a bad habit or two. Fortunately however, there are plenty of celebrities out there, whose bad examples keep reminding us of the correct way to drive. We look at five celebrity examples that a courier definitely should not follow.

Belt Up Ice-T

Famous rapper Ice-T came a cropper with the New York police recently whilst trying to get his dog to the vet. However, as it turns out it was not speeding that was the problem, but rather the lack of any seatbelts being worn in the car. The rapper, who is now acting in hit series Law and Order, was booked and taken to the police station though he was released shortly afterwards. But what can we learn from his plight? Even though a courier is in and out of the car a lot during the day, it’s important to always wear a seatbelt.

Put it Down Beyonce

She may only have had her driving licence a little while, having recently been given lessons by husband Jay-Z, but it didn’t take long for superstar Beyonce Knowles to get into trouble on the road. Pulled over by police in Brooklyn, she was seen writing a text message on her phone as she weaved in and out of traffic. Unfortunately she was stopped by what was probably the only policeman in New York who did not know who she was, and though she claimed that she didn’t know texting whilst driving was against the law, the singer was still dealt a ticket. If you’re a courier, make sure you catch up on your communications before you get back in the car.

Don’t Drive Dyer

Danny Dyer was recently caught driving a Porsche – wouldn’t every courier love to be caught driving a sportscar? The difference being of course that a courier would most probably have a valid driving licence. Having already told newspapers in the past that he did not drive, it was no surprise to the police who spotted Danny Dyer that he could only present them with a provisional license. Seems to me, even driving a Porsche with learner plates would still have looked a bit cooler than getting arrested.

Sober Up Swann

England cricketer Graeme Swann has recently appeared before a magistrate, having been charged with drink driving. He may have been named cricketer of the year, but Swann will need to up his game before he gets back in a car. In fact, as every courier knows, he will definitely have to forgo that liquid lunch if he has somewhere to be in the afternoon.

Go Home George

Having only recently emerged from a two-year ban, you might not have expected to see George Michael back in the papers following another driving incident. However, early one Sunday morning just a few weeks back, George ended up with the front of his car firmly parked in a shop window on Hampstead High Street. What can a courier learn from George Michael? A careless whisper may not be an issue but careless driving can land you in a whole heap of trouble.

So, if you’re a courier, keep your eye out for celebrities showing you exactly how not to behave while you’re out on the road.
