Trade Show Display Design Advice

Tastes and trends permeate every aspect of our lives and trade show booth design is no exception. What is thought to look great last year, is as square as a corduroy pants at a wedding reception the following year.

Trade shows are ever changing in style, techniques and the insatiable demand to attract and deliver real information and value to attendees. The need to stand out from the crowded trade show arena is a powerful driver in trade show design, and especially in booth and display design.

Moving away from the traditional approach pays dividends and many companies have developed excellent booth displays and techniques for getting themselves closer to attendees and customers. Point of Purchase Exhibit displays are an excellent example in how design has combined with behavorial understanding to optimize attendee interaction. The success of Point of Purchase Exhibits is due in large part to the development of materials which lend themselves to easy customization and are lightweight and highly portable.

The Allure Banner range is an excellent example of how lightweight aluminum framing has been adapted to ensure one person can set-up a mini-booth in a couple of minutes and easily disassemble at the end of the day without any special tools or training. In addition, the ability to fit the PPE into practically any environment gives the user great flexibility when it comes to using convention floor space as they fit pretty much anywhere.

Entasi displays provide off-the-shelf customization with the ability to use photographs or graphical imagery as the centrepiece of your display. The Entasi display takes 10 x10 tension fabric and mounts it (with your photograph) on a hi-tech looking chrome display (made from lightweight aluminum). The display is readily modified or added to using matching accessories including podiums and off-display kiosks, while the chrome look is accentuated with halogen lighting systems. Again, this display is assembled in minutes and requires no special tools or training and a neat point is that the backdrop display panel is machine washable!

Off-display kiosks are increasingly finding themselves in use by exhibitors as they seek to broaden their reach on the arena floor and at the choke points for attendee traffic. For instance, kiosks are ideal for use at major junctions within the arena, near to refreshment and restroom facilities or at the entrances to the arena. While these have been around for some time, one development of note is the A/V kiosk which does away with the need for staff to man it – instead, an A/V kiosk will have a TV display system to broadcast your message. By using a large screen, LCD monitor you will attract attention to your presence and main display offering without the need for expensive staffing and they look ultra modern too.

The overall trend for exhibitors is to move towards incorporating interactive displays within their booths and outlying “salesmen”, such as PPE’s and A/V kiosks. The increasing use of technology allows for attendees to assimilate information without feeling the stress of a hovering sales person, but at the same time they provide the ice breaker that is so often needed to engage with the potential customer too.
