What Nurse Patients Say About Nurses

The patients who benefit from nurses, have much to say about their caregivers. Partially angel and mother to many, nurses over the years have traditionally been very influential on the outcome of a patient’s recovery, in very good ways.

The gentle nature of many nurses is one of the number one reasons why patients love their nurses. If you ask any patient, especially one who has been in the hospital for quite some time, just what he or she thinks about the nurses who care for them, you’ll see a pattern begin to emerge. Most will tell you how grateful they are, having had their nurses’ care. Others will tell you how they could never have gone through what they did, without the help and caring of nurses. The accolades can really go on and on, and deservedly so.

People who have had operations or given birth, thus resulting in a long hospital stay, will swear as to the necessity for nurses. Often, vital signs will be taken, sometimes as often as every hour for 24 hours. The nurses who perform this duty realize how hard it is, physically, on their patients they must perform this on. It’s never easy to wake someone up, especially if they need their sleep. But, it has to be done so nurses do it. It’s for the good of the patient, after all, that they must perform this action.

But that’s not the only reason why nurses remain in high favor with their patients; past, present and future. Normally, the “angel” aspect is seen in nurses, especially in times of high crisis and trauma. A calming, yet firm voice keeping one from feeling like he or she will lose it any moment, can be more than reassuring; it can make a lifetime impression.

If you ever have the chance to speak with someone who’s been in an injury of some kind, just how awesome nurses are, you’ll get an idea as to how important nurses are, but not only to patient health care. The overall package of mind, body and soul appears to be affected by nurses. This means that practically every person who has been card for by a nurse, takes that impression with them everywhere they go, no matter what happens in life; he or she will always remember how well-cared for they were by their nurse(s).

If you are a nurse reading this article, kudos to you for what you do and, very importantly, who you are. You give so much to others, while sacrificing you time and often sleep to do so. You really are angels who walk this Earth, and not merely because your patients say so. You are because of who you are; a nurse.

It’s easy to get jaded in the health care business. There are those who constantly complain about what you do for them, when you are merely doing your job. There are people who are completely afraid of nurses, largely because they are afraid of needles, too. But overall, and most rewarding, there are those patients who represent the majority when it comes to nurses. They say that nurses are wonderful and very inspiring. I, for one, believe them.
