Bored Of The UK? Discover Down Under Or Conquer Canada
If you are considering a move out of the UK in search of a better place in the world to live, not many people would blame you at the minute. Although the Bank of England base rate has remained at 0.5% for over a year (meaning that bank loan interest rates are particularly low) and free public health care is available to everyone, there aren’t many other main benefits to living in the country. Unemployment rates are still high, taxes are being increased at least once if not twice a year and for many, health and safety and political correctness have gone mad.
Should you be in the initial stages of thinking about emigrating from the UK, chances are you’re not only in a quandary about whether or not to do it, but also about where in the world to move to. Unfortunately, the first part is something that can only be determined by yourself and your individual circumstances. The second part, however, can be helped tremendously by taking a look at some of the most popular places to move to in the world.
One of the best places to start looking is The Economist’s most recent list of World’s Most Liveable Cities. As of 2010, the top 10 consists of 5 Oceania cities (4 in Australia and 1 in New Zealand), 3 Canadian cities (Vancouver, which ranked first, Toronto and Calgary) and two European propecia trials cities (Vienna, the capital city of Austria and Helsinki, the capital of Finland). Whilst the list may change somewhat each year, you can guarantee that for the foreseeable the split is going to be like it is at the moment, with Canada and Australia making up the majority of places in the top 10.
But why exactly is this
?
For some people, gaining an Australian or Canadian work visa will not be due to any major selling points in the country, but so that they can be with relatives. Both countries have in place visas that allow for people to enter the country to live with close family, with Canada even having a visa for those people who no longer have family in their home country, but have living relatives in Canada.
Of course, this is not always the reason and one of the main causes for many to move to Australia in particular is employment. Canada may have an unemployment rate that varies considerably, from 5.8% to 17% depending on where you live in the country (according to data provided by Statistics Canada for October 2009), but Australia’s country-wide unemployment rate of 5.3% in March 2010 (taken from data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics) is the lowest the country has seen in at least 12 months.
Both Canada and Australia have their downsides and the grass, unfortunately, is not always greener on the other side for everyone. However, these two countries offer some of the highest living standards of any country in the world and they are the two places on earth that are closest to offering a perfect place to live.
