A true lover of art, his young talent has found a perfect place, when he finally began to speak through his own canvass.

Just as it was, with every artist, it was a struggle setting a name for himself in the beginning. Much of his style did not fit into the Parisian, because his was quite dark. After deciding to capture the life of peasants, at 1885 he was able to complete his first masterpiece entitled “The Potato Eaters” and in the years that followed his style thoroughly developed. Like the other Impressionists, he found a way to play with light and colour, until his brushwork became much broken, and his colour palette much brighter than before. The cafes and the countryside were his inspiration and from time to time, he would paint portraits of random individuals.

He moved a lot, during his time, and this fuelled his loneliness. This state eventually caused him his sanity and he admitted himself into a psychiatric facility, after suffering a psychotic breakdown. During his confinement, he was able to produce nearly two hundred paintings but during 1890 he shot himself in the chest and died shortly, after two days.

History has compiled many of Van Gogh’s work and many of these depict different times in his life. His unusual view of the world made his work truly remarkable and this is what made him unique.
