Buying a home can happen quicker than one thinks. Often times a first time home buyer will find themselves in a situation that leaves them stunned thinking “I thought I just decided to buy a home and now I own one is this right?” The truth is, most first time home buyers probably have spent a good portion of their mature life wanting to buy a home. The reality of buying a home might be a shock but the preparation was probably months even years in the making.

That might sound pretty stupid or like common sense but just like the first step for an alcoholic to overcome alcohol is to admit that they are an alcoholic a first time home buyer must realize they want to buy the home. Buying a home is such a large life decision that it is easy for anyone who does not own a home to rationalize many reasons why they cannot own a home. Deciding to own one will actually empower most individuals with the drive and persistence necessary to get into the home.

After a first time home buyer decided to own a home, they should and need to start their own research. The world of real estate is so much more accessible in today’s world because home listings are just one click away on the internet. A home buyer can search through thousands of listings, take virtual tours, and view the home through aerial shots. A home buyer should be able to use alll of their personal research to define the things they really want in their home and the things they do not want; By the time a first time home buyer actually makes it to a realtor, they should be able to accurately tell a realtor what it is they are really looking for greatly increasing the quickness and success of the home search.

With the desire and the relevant rules the buyer wants in place, the actual finding a home process is usually a lot quicker than most buyers expect. A great realtor is crucial of course but even an average realtor will or should be able to hear what it is their client wants and then they can only show the specific homes that their client desires and usually, especially in a sellers market, the buyer will want or purchase a home right away. The times that are rumored to take years are usually cases where the buyer has no serious intention of buying a home. So in review, if a buyer has the desire and the understanding of what they want, finding the right home is not as big of a challenge as one might think.

When the home buyer actually goes out with the realtor they should not be in a stupor. Meaning, it is is really important that the buyer have eaten a good healthy meal and is a condition to remember the specific details of what they saw in the different homes, as every home has a different personality. The usual amount of homes that is healthy to view in one day is no more than ten. Any more than that and it will be virtually impossible to remember anything that is seen.
