By completing the level within 1.30 to 1.59 minutes, three thousand points will be awarded to you. If the level is completed in 2 – 2.59 minutes, you can have an extra of 2000 points. Those who manage to complete the level within 3 to 3.59 minutes will have 1000 points. If you complete the level within 4 – 4.59 minutes, you will be rewarded with 500 points. If you take 5 minutes finish the level, you will receive zero points.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 can be played in two players mode. If you select two players mode, you will compete with the other plyer in the split screen race. Every zone has a different background music. The special stage in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is same with Emerald Stage. The ranking of the players depend on many factors including score, time and etc. The more rings you collect, the higher you will rank. The number of item boxes that you broke also influences your ranking.
