Rainy season is here and it is time to get your colorful umbrellas and raincoats out. Don’t let your spirits dampen. Here are some tips to care of yourself and yet look good in this rainy season.
Oily skin, frizzy hair are common problems that we face in the monsoons. Due to high moisture in the air, the skin is most likely to get oily. Oily skin leads to pimples and infections. Try to wash your face with normal water at least 3-4 times a day. Use a good scrub to keep your face clean. Do not use too much makeup in the monsoons and if at all necessary, make sure that it is water proof. Do not apply too much of liquid on your face, instead use powder based products. You can soak your feet in warm water with some salt to get rid of irritation due to dirt and fungal infection. Try and wear floaters or slippers or ballet flats to let your feet breathe. Colorful slippers are also very much in and are comfortable too. Wear things with sturdy straps so that your feet do not slip out of your footwear because of moisture.
Hair never seem to be in place in monsoons and the frizz just adds to the problems. It is advisable to keep away from chemical treatments like straightening, perming and hair sprays. Mild shampoos should be used but hair should not be washed very often as the humidity may make the hair look limp. Henna is the best to be used in this season. In order to avoid frizz, a leave in conditioner can be used. Try to keep hair as dry as possible. Do not leave your hair open too often. Try tying up a ponytail and funk it up with colorful clips and pins and you are ready to go.
Bright colors look best in rainy season over pastels so add color to whatever you carry. Instead of cotton wear linens and other fabrics that get dried easily. Denims can be best worn in the form of shorts or knee length pants. Capri’s in pastel shades teemed with funky t-shirts make a good pair for the monsoons. Try fabrics with Lycra to get the perfect fit and comfort. A water proof bag is of utmost importance so that your stuff stays dry and safe. You can keep silica gel packets across your wardrobe to protect everything. Funky anklets can become your best accessory in monsoons. Do not use too much make up and let it be simple with just a dash of color on the eyes and a gloss. Raincoats in cool colors and colorful umbrellas just add to the zing but choose them wisely. Do not wear too much of jewelery in monsoons.
In the rainy season, you should take good care of your gadgets. You must avoid talking on the phone while walking in rains even with an umbrella. Avoid keeping your phone in the pant pockets and keep them in your handbags instead. Just in case if your phone gets wet, remove the battery and dry the phone with a mild blow dryer. Keep your laptops safe in laptop cases and avoid taking it out too much in the rains Do not keep your laptop bags in damp areas. Get them periodically checked in rainy seasons especially. Cameras also need to be taken care of in the rainy season. Use a soft dry cloth to wipe off the water from the lens. Keep devices unplugged when not in use in order to avoid short circuits and shocks. Keep gadgets in plastic covers for extra protection and take special care of touchscreen devices as they are more prone to damage. Take care and you will not face any problems.
