5 Figure Fixing Tricks

No matter how hard we try to keep in shape, most of us will admit that there are parts that we don’t like or aren’t happy with. For many people this will be their stomach, hips and thighs but for others it is their legs, arms or lack of chest. There are plenty of tactics that you can employ to visually fix these areas, although if you want to actually change your body you will need to employ much more drastic measures. Fixing fixing your figure with clothes is the perfect solution for a special occasion when you want to look your best but also to make you feel more confident in your everyday life.

1. Shape Wear

There are plenty of different types of control knickers on the market which will help you create a more slimline shape and in some cases drop a whole dress size. Shape wear works particularly well for creating a smooth base underneath occasion or evening wear allowing the delicate draping fabric to hang correctly.

2. Heels

For most people especially those who are quite short the addition of a pair of mid to high heels will make you look taller and there for slimmer. You should be careful to pick a pair that you can comfortably and confidently walk in. Standing straight and tall in mid height heels is preferable to tottering and stumbling in very high heels.

3. Wearing a dark colour

What ever your problem area wearing a dark colour like black on it will tend to slim or make it less noticeable. You need to balance wearing dark colours with interest and colours that flatter in your outfit. You can do this by just wearing dark colours on one area or accessorising with colourful alternatives. Colours like dark grey and navy also make good alternatives to black.

3. High light your best features with accessories

One great way of drawing the eye away from an area that you don’t like is using something bright or eye catching to draw the eyes to another area of your body. Accessories are a great way to do this. A brightly coloured or interesting belt is a good way to draw attention to a small waist. Jewellery scarves are a good way to draw attention to your top half if you are pear shaped.

4. Tailoring

Tailored jackets and pair of trousers or skirt is probably one of the most flattering pieces of clothing no matter what your body shape. A well fitting tailored piece will skim over an lumps and bumps creating a beautifully streamlined shape.

5. Balance and proportion

The key to fixing many figure woes is by achieving a balanced look. There are lots of ways that you can balance your problem areas and make your body look in proportion. A great way of balancing larger hips and thighs is by using the relatively wider hem of an a line skirt or boot cut trousers. You can also balance your top half by making it look relatively wider with a wide neck or striped top like the ladies stripe 3/4 sleeve summer T-shirt in blue, pictured above.
