Buying an Original Wedding Gift

It happens every time, doesn’t it? You’ve been invited to your friends wedding and you just don’t know what to buy them for a present. It’s difficult not to buy the same old cliche presents so it would be understandable that you want to get something that will stand out from the usual boxes of toasters and cutlery. If you are struggling to find a suitable present for the bride to be then here are a few suggestions that will hopefully inspire you.

Tradition usually dictates that the bride and groom will organise some sort of wedding wish list comprising of suggestions that will help them to set up their home. These suggestions will be things like household and decorative items that will be useful now they are married. While these items ma indeed be functional and useful, they are presents that other people are likely to buy as well so perhaps you may like to try a different approach and purchase items to pamper the bride. The bride of today usually has a home set up already so she may especially appreciate gifts that will allow her to treat herself or that will be a bit more personal.

Sentimental gifts are presents which will always work well between friends as they will evoke many find memories. Giving the bride a present which will help her to recall these memories will put a real smile on her face. Perhaps you may like to frame a picture that is special to her – perhaps a photo depicting a family member or memorable occasion from the past.

If you want to give your friend a gift that will enable her to pamper herself then there are a number of possible options. You could purchase her a selection of her favourite soaps, lotions and shower gels. Just start thinking about Victoria’s Secret type products and you will be on the right lines. You may also like to find her a bottle of perfume with a scent that you know she will love. If you have the budget for it then an excellent alternative would be to buy a voucher for a spa day.

If you do want to buy some decorative items for the house then try not to purchase anything which is too predictable. You may wish to buy fancy artwork that will stand out or be the talking point of a room. If you feel that modern paintings may be a little too abstract then you may wish to go for smaller sculpted works such as Kosta Boda or Orrefors glass ornaments which have become increasingly popular over recent years. You may wish to combine this with a sentimental angle and give a piece of art which will mean something to your friend, perhaps an artefact picked up from travels that you shared together.

So you see with a little creative thinking there are plenty of avenue to explore when it comes to buying wedding gifts. The main theme is to not get caught in the trap of buying what everyone else does! Enjoy your gift shopping and buy something that the happy couple will treasure.
