Bad Credit Car Loans. Who Ever Heard of Such a Thing?
Bad credit car loans. Who ever heard of such a thing? They don’t give out loans to people with bad credit… do they? Yes, they do. And if you’re one of the millions of people in America today with not-so-great credit, you can let out that sigh of relief.
It’s true. Even with bad credit, it’s possible to get a loan for a new or used car. Now, before your brain starts flashing images of those cheesy local car dealership commercials with some poor animal dressed up next to a sleazy looking salesman yelling, “Come on down to so-and-so’s auto, where everyone gets approved! Bad credit? No credit? No problem!” (I know what you’re thinking!), there are many reputable car dealerships out there that handle bad credit car loans, or sub prime loans (as they’re referred to “in the biz”).
It’s not uncommon for dealerships to have their own lenders on board so that people can get financed for a loan through the dealership, as opposed to having to find a loan on your own from say, a bank or a credit union. Many of these dealerships that already had their own lenders are branching out into sub prime financing to help people get a car loan even with bad credit.
To make the process even easier, you can just hop online and go to your favorite search engine, type in “bad credit car loans” and browse some of the thousands of sites where you can apply for a loan without ever leaving the comfort of your own home. Local dealerships often have similar online application processes as well. Usually when you apply through a website that isn’t directly connected with a dealership, your application will get forwarded to a dealership in your immediate area that already has sub prime lenders on site. Typically which ever dealership receives your application for approval will call you with your loan status and financing options before you even have to set foot through their doors. It’s that easy!
I’m sure you’re thinking, “So what’s the catch?” Well, there is no catch. But there is a down side to this process, and that is: Not everyone will get approved for an auto loan. Lenders aren’t just giving away loans to anyone who wants one. You still have to qualify for approval. Usually getting approved is dependent on several factors. First is income; a lender isn’t going to give you a loan if you have no means of paying it back. Second is employment; this goes hand in hand with income. Now there are other factors that are taken into consideration by lenders, but the last one I’m going to mention is credit score. This number is factored in when applying for any type of credit, whether for a car loan or a credit card. The higher your number, the better your chances are of getting approved for credit. The good news is, if you have bad credit it’s never too late to try and fix it.
