Top 5 Worst Places to Go on a Date

I’m sure all of you guys — who are totally hip on researching how to woo the woman of your dreams – know where to take a woman on a date. But do you know where not to take a woman on a date? By doing an informal survey of all my good buddies, we’ve come up with the five worst places to go on a date. Drum roll, please:

1. Your ex-girlfriend’s work. I don’t care if she is a waitress at the hottest, trendiest, most hip delicious restaurant in town. Steer very clear of this place. I would even go so far as to suggest you find a spot as far across town from there as possible.

2. Your parent’s house. If anything can scare a woman away faster it is the psycho guy who wants to introduce you to his parents right away. Plus unless your parents are the coolest people on the planet, chances are that is the biggest turnoff you could find. Nothing squashes attraction more than mom squeezing in between you two on the couch to watch Wheel of Fortune.

3. Dinner at a restaurant. This is a no no for many reasons. Unless you are a couple and have been dating for months, avoid going out to dinner. Period. Here is why. Two reasons. One: it is outdated and old fashioned and makes you look like an old fogey. Nobody goes on dinner dates anymore. At least not when they are just beginning to date. Two: There is way too much pressure on a dinner date. The guy is pissed because he spends a lot of money on the girl and expects a return on his investment. The girl is pissed because he spent a lot of money on her and expects a return on his investment.

4. A movie. Again, this is a dud for a few reasons. Number one: Did you see #3 above? Going on a date to a movie when you’ve just met someone is outdated, old fashioned and makes you look like an old fogey. Nobody takes a date to the movies anymore. Other reasons: Number two: It is boring. It makes you appear boring and unoriginal and unable to think of anything better to do. Three: You have zero chance to talk and create rapport while you are watching a movie. Bad idea. The goal of a date is to create rapport and get to know one another by sharing yourself through conversation.

5. Going to listen to your best friend’s crappy band rehearse in some dingy warehouse that is freezing and where there is no seating and nothing to drink. OK, first off, your best friend’s band sucks. It might be different if you are best friends with Jason Mrz or Lady Gaga or something. Then, by all means take her to the damn rehearsal and she’s yours for life. Otherwise, pretty much anywhere you take her would be better than listening to bad music. Oh maybe, not, probably worse than band rehearsal would be a video game tournament at your friend’s house where everyone sits at different computers networked to each other.
