For home business owner that that do most of their work from home, it can often be hard to get all their work done and still have energy left to do some exercise. If you are wondering how you can fit exercise into your working day, you will be glad to know you don’t even have to get out of your office chair to do it!

Most home business owners sit in front of their computers all day. They are racking up their chances that they will suffer from bad posture and the aches and pains that some from a back posture, at some point. This doesn’t happen overnight of course, but eventually they will notice a difference in how they sit and act.

But as a home business owner, you can take some simple steps now on a regular basis and you should soon start to see a difference in how you feel. These easy exercises will also help you to prevent those slumps you get at the computer during the afternoon, not long after you have had your lunch.

One of the simplest things you can do is to sit slightly forward on your chair and twist from your waist so you turn to look to either side of you. A few simple repetitions of this exercise can make all the difference to your posture if you do them regularly. They also help to stretch and strengthen your muscles and loosen the tight muscles around the shoulders and neck which are often the main cause of an afternoon headache!

There are other things you can do as well however. For example, try rolling your chair back from your desk and sit comfortably in it for a moment with your feet on the floor. Now raise your legs by bending them at the knee so your feet are sticking out in front of you. You can try holding the pose and twisting your feet around to move your ankles as well if you wish.

Of course, every type of exercise you do should only be done if you are fit enough to manage it. For instance if you have some kind of problem with your ankles, you should ask your doctor whether it is safe for you to do these exercises. They may recommend other exercises you can just as easily do at home.

Another good one for giving your calf muscles a good stretch is to put your toes firmly on the floor and then push down on them so you pivot your feet on the balls of your feet. Can you feel your calf muscles stretching as you do this? You will be amazed at the difference this can make if you do it for ten minutes or so every hour or two. It stops your legs from becoming stiff and you will certainly notice a difference by doing it regularly.

Chair squats are another good idea if you are already slightly fit. Just stand up ever so slightly, just going high enough so that your back side rises an inch or so from the chair seat. Count to 3 and sit down again. Do this exercise as many times as possible as often as you can.

Of course nothing is better than getting up out of your chair and actually walking around to get some exercise. This is much easier when you work from home as you dictate your own schedule. Try going out into the garden every now and then to get some fresh air while you walk round. It can refresh your mind as well as your body when you do this, so make the most of it and notice the difference it has on your mental attitude and body.

Don’t sit at the computer all the time – make sure you move around as much as you can. Another good idea is to get a cordless phone so you can walk around the office and garden when on a long call.

It is easy to fit in a simple exercise programme when you run a home business. You can use your office chair do some simple exercises and walk around the office and garden when on the phone. The more exercises you fit in to your daily working schedule the better!
