Glorious Cookie Bouquet to Enchant Mom on the Holidays

Christmas is just around the corner. Maybe you have thought about a cookie bouquet as a unique delight for Mom this year. With lots and lots of blissful holiday bites, a cookie bouquet can truly be your sweetest way of saying “Happy Holidays”!

Here’s to your bunch of holiday enchantment:

Ingredients:

-2 cups sugar
-2 cups margarine
-3 eggs
-3 teaspoon lemon extract
-1 teaspoon salt
-3 teaspoon baking powder
-6 cups flour

Directions:

In a large mixing bowl, cream the first 4 ingredients. Mix remaining dry ingredients together in a separate bowl, then combine with the creamed mixture. Put in sufficient flour to handle dough. Roll out cookie dough on floured board or flat surface, and cut with a cookie cutter. Bake 350 degrees for 10 minutes, or when the outside edges are golden brown.

To make the flower bouquet, always use cookie cutters in cutting cookies all the time, preferably a cutter with different sizes and designs. In this way you could integrate the same design into each element or anything that would work for your theme like stars, bells, hearts, squares, sticks, all things you can think of. Roll 1-inch cookie dough, or a dough that is solid enough to lodge the sticks. Rolled cookie dough can be cut out with cookie cutters in every imaginable way. Carefully insert stick into each cookie. If your cookie is extra fat, you may need to bake for more minutes because of the thicker dough. Watch closely while baking.

After baking, allow cookies to completely cool on a cake wire rack. When cooled, start mixing cookie icing and frost the cookies. This is the start of the fun so bring out the creativity in you! You can use different colors in your frost for a merry-looking cookie bouquet. Royal icing is a good choice because it holds up very well. You can even use it to attach as you would use a glue. Fondant icing can be very easy to use that works great as a glaze too, but fondant covered cookies don’t freeze well.

For piping decorations, prepare small parchment cones with a decorating tip for each color, it’s faster and less messy. You can use a decorator icing and think of any design for your cookie bouquet. Using a decorating tube will also determine the type of decorations the tip will produce.

When you’re done with all the frosting, wrap each of the cookies in clear cellophane bags and tie any colored ribbon around each cookie. Arrange cookie pops in custom cookie baskets, mini-pails, decorative boxes, or in a terra cotta pot with styrofoam in the bottom to hold cookies. Now you can design your cookie bouquet all you can. Take your time thinking of little joyful delights to add zest to your bouquet. You can insert festive-colored candies and individually wrapped mallows in between cookie gaps, or colorful lollipops to look like miniature balloons, and wrapped pretzels to make little logs around your cookie bouquet.

Sugar cookies for your cookie bouquet will definitely add a little bit of sugariness to the holidays.

Have a sweet season ahead!
