How to Organize Your Bedroom in 7 Steps

The task seems daunting, but with the right furniture and a bit of time, you can and will organize your bedroom. The bedroom is, for many, the place where everything gets dumped. It is out of the way so you can easily close to door if someone were to come over. However, the bedroom is supposed to be a place for relaxation and comfort. Because of this, it is time to consider the benefits and steps to organizing your bedroom.

The following steps will have you organized in no time. Of course, each person’s needs are very different, but for those who need a bit of help, this is the place to start.

1. Get the garbage bags and boxes. Throw out anything you have not used that is broken or worn out. Donate items that can be useful to someone else. Everything you have in your bedroom needs to find a home within that space or another space in your home or go into the trash or the donate box.

2. Start with the bed itself. If you have the ability to purchase one, invest in discount platform beds. Purchase a few storage drawers for under the bed, too. This is an inexpensive way to upgrade and it will give you additional storage. In these drawers, you can place bedding, linens or other items that you may need at hand.

3. Next, consider the dressers you have in this space. Each drawer should be for a specific type of clothing. If you are sharing the room with a loved one, be sure each one of you has enough storage for each type of item you have, such as pants, t-shirts, socks, etc.

4. Next, clean out that closet. The rule of thumb to remember is that if you have not worn the clothing in the last year, it is time to go. Get rid of as much as you can. Sort through any clutter, including shoes, and donate whenever possible.

5. Tackle your nightstand next. This is an easy place for items to get stashed. If you do not use it for a lamp or books, consider donating it. On the other hand, you can use it for a place to put your telephone, alarm clock and whatever you are reading. Get rid of anything else.

6. Remove anything not essential to your sleeping or dressing from the room. This means getting rid of that exercise equipment you do not use. Invest in laundry baskets to keep clothing off the floor, too.

7. Any additional drawers or spaces in the room should be cleaned out and organized. Focus on getting rid of as much as possible from this space rather than holding on to numerous items. You will feel better with the organized feel later.

There is no doubt that cleaning out and organizing a bedroom can be hard, but when you invest the time into the process, you can have a great looking space that allows you to relax in it. Consider investing in discount platform beds, or if this is for a child’s room, go with captains beds with underneath storage to add more space for storage and organization.
