Scool Furniture

School furniture used in your local school

Going to school is hard to imagine with out school furniture. School furniture is as important as having pencil and paper. School furniture comes in different sizes, based on the ages of the students. Younger students will need school furniture in smaller sizes than high school students. As students get older and grow taller, their school furniture will grow with them.

To get a idea of what to expect, all you have to do is visit their library. You will notice a large variety of desks, tables, cubicles and even storage bins. The local school librarian spend most of her time with the students reading while sitting at either a desk or table. Once the students leave the library to go back to their classroom, the school furniture will be cleaned for the next group of students.

Most of the time when you think of school furniture, you only think about student desks. Most schools are buying a variety of furniture. Every year schools purchase pictures, tables, chairs, and even lounge chairs. But you’d be surprised to know that every classroom has a unequal number of cabinets. Cabinets are the the forgotten pieces of a school. And since there is a large variety of cabinets, it can be difficult to find matching units. Since computers are such a major factor in learning, computer desks are also important. Most libraries have a computer lab. School furniture is important to a computer lab. Computer labs are designed to be a functioning workspace. They should comfortable and well lighted for the students. A well designed computer lab will have students standing in line to spend time there. Over the years, computer labs have become more efficient. As monitor sizes and networking became easier, the required work space has become smaller. And many schools are able to take advantage of extra class room space.

One of the last things that come to your mind when you think of school furniture is the teacher lounge. Teachers spend their lunch and their non-teaching periods there. Most teachers lounges consist of a couple sofas, desks, coffee tables and possibly a kitchen area. I’ve visited several lounges and the range is size. I’ve noticed that elementary school lounges are much smaller than high school lounges. With high schools being 5 -6 times their size, their lounges need to have enough furniture to comfortably support 15-20 teachers at a time. Some of the teachers lounges have telephones, laptop work stations, fax machines, printers, copiers and even vending machines for their staff. Teachers lounges are rated as an important asset for any teacher that needs to take advantage of their time between class schedules. And most teachers will appreciate the pictures and other office accessories in the teachers lounge.

If a school district grows quickly, they might add portable building to their campus until permanent classrooms are added. With these circumstances, some school districts will rent school furniture to fill those portable classrooms. It allows them to fill those classrooms with out spending a lot of time on purchase orders.

It seems that students work more efficiently when they have new desks and furniture. Students will migrate to furniture that is new and clean. With the proper care, cleaning and maintenance they will look new for years. School furniture can last for years.
