Christmas has really arrived when it is time to put up the Christmas tree. Every year you have always had a live tree. Your family has enjoyed trekking out to a tree farm to select that perfect Christmas tree. Your children love the cutting of the tree. However the time has come when you are thinking that maybe you should purchase an artificial Christmas tree.

The artificial trees are just so convenient. Every year you just take them out of their box or their storage bag. Many of them come with the lights already installed. These Christmas trees don’t need water and the needles don’t drop all over the place. You won’t have the hassle of any pets constantly nipping at the needles like with a live tree.

You don’t have to try to figure out what combination of water and sugar or some other concoction of fluids will keep your tree fresh. If you have purchased a live tree from a local Christmas tree lot does it need to thaw before bringing it in the house? How long has it been since it was cut from the forest? Does it need to have its bottom cut? With the artificial tree you don’t have to fret about fastening the stand screws tightly against the bark so the tree won’t tip. By using an artificial tree, you can just drop the base securely into the stand.

An artificial tree is free of bugs, fungus, and other things that will live on in your home long after Christmas. For the allergy sufferers’ artificial trees are the way to go.

At any time of the year you can purchase artificial trees by shopping online. No last minute scurrying around to find the perfect tree. You can have it delivered early and you will be all ready when it is time to decorate it. There are so many choices in sizes, colors, and designs of artificial Christmas tree you can buy several. It is fun to have different theme Christmas trees. Children love to have one that is just theirs to decorate.

On the other hand if you decide on an artificial tree you are giving up the annual trip to select one. You are giving up that heavenly smell of pine. Real Christmas trees are usually much bushier than the artificial ones. In less of course you buy a “Charlie Brown tree”. A real Christmas tree has soft needles. This makes placing your decorations on them easier. The plastic construction of the artificial ones can be unwieldy.

Once you get your real Christmas tree into the stand and place in the right spot in your home it is ready to go. Whereas the artificial ones sometimes need to have their branches installed or at the very least fluffed.

Once Christmas is over the real Christmas tree is discarded. Many municipalities have a recycling program where used Christmas trees are turned into mulch, thus helping the environment. This is often a fundraiser for a service group.

Your artificial Christmas trees have to be packed away either by completely dismantling them or semi taking them apart so they can be stored until next year. They either have to fit back in their original boxes or into a tree bag keeper. Then comes the question where do you put them? Many homes are not equipped with adequate storage space for a Christmas tree.

Here in lies the Christmas tree dilemma. Should we have a live Christmas tree or an artificial Christmas tree? In our household after many years of having an artificial one we may just go back to getting a real one this year. On the other hand there are so many new beautiful trees on the market. Maybe we will just get a new artificial Christmas tree.
