The Perfect Family Bathroom Design
As any family will know, the bathroom can be one of the busiest rooms in the house, especially in the mornings as the adults get ready for work and the kids get ready for school. That’s why an efficient but attractive bathroom design is essential for a household.
So how can you combine efficiency with attractiveness? Here are a few ideas for you to consider.
Sinks
There’s a wide range of sinks available in a number of styles and sizes these days. The size of your bathroom will determine the size and number of sinks you can have, but if you have the space then two sinks is a brilliant solution for those busy mornings.
Choose an attractive design, place them side by side and the amount of time your family spends fighting for the bathroom will be cut drastically!
Storage
In a bid to maximise the space you have and to get those two sinks in, you can be very creative with the storage options. Mirrored bathroom cabinets, under sink cupboards, a back to the wall toilet with shelf and corner stands are all good choices for storing the bathroom essentials and will not only save space but utilise dead space that wouldn’t ordinarily get used.
Baths
A large bath is a must – even if you have to compromise on that double sink! Whether it’s the adults enjoying a relaxing soak after a long day or you have to bath your two children, a large bath – with taps to the side rather than at the ends – is the perfect choice for the efficient, attractive bathroom.
Showers
If space is at a premium, a proper power shower over the bath will suffice but if you can, a spacious shower cubicle can be a very attractive and especially useful addition to any bathroom. And showers are, of course, efficient when it comes to getting clean in the morning when you’re on a tight schedule!
Heated Towel Rails
Especially useful in the winter months, adding a heated towel rail to a bathroom will keep it AND your towels warm, just what you want when you climb out of a relaxing bath or quick shower. Stepping into a nicely warmed towel is far better than wrapping yourself in a chilly one!
Finishing Touches
With the above mentioned options you should have an efficient bathroom – now you want to make it as attractive as possible with the little details. Use large ceramic tiles for the walls as these help create a feeling of space, a large mirror with well placed, effective lighting will do the same, while your choice of things like taps should all, obviously, match and fit in with the overall design of the bathroom.
For the floor you can continue with the ceramic tiles you used on the walls or you could choose carpet – the trend these days is tiles, however. You could consider a heated floor if you have the budget as well.
If you want help with your decisions, then many bathroom companies can assist you using bathroom design software, which allows you to model your bathroom on a computer before committing to buying the fixtures and fittings.
