Does it seem like vampires are hot now.

It seems like it but not really. They have been a part of our history for a long time. Some of the very first movies were about vampires and werewolves.

Forever there have been books written about them, movies portraying them and plays about them. Over in Europe there are tales about them carried from one generation to the next. Many of these stories were about events that could not be explained.

But heck who am I to second guess historical events. After all, I am just a writer. But I am also a lover of audio books. And there are almost as many audio books as there are hard cover books about everything.

In this particular case there are hundreds of audio books about vampires and their chasers. There are vampire books about their natural preditors, the werewolf. Without the vampires and their preditors what fun would they be.

As a result, I have provided a fantastic list of vampire audio books and their authors. Most of the authors have multiple vampire chasers books, so if you like a particular author, get more of their books.

“Cerulean Sins” by Laurell K. Hamilton;

Once a sworn enemy of the vampires, Anita finds her self as a vampire now too. She is now the human consort of the master vampire the leopard shapeshifter. But her love life does not stop there. She is consumed by the lust of the vampire and their primal hungers. Her desires must be sated time and time again.

The book is almost sixteen hours long so you really get your money’s worth. It is part of “Anita Blake Vampire Hunter”.

“Dance of the Gods” by Nora Roberts;

Blair Murphy was raised in a family of demon hunters. She is trying to catch up with a vampire determined to rule the earth. She is gathering together a group to help her do this and trying not to fall in love again. Love has been a demon in her life that cannot be killed or cured, so she tries to avoid the real truth.

This audio book is 10 hours of unabridged terror and passion.

“Dark Slayer: Dark Series, Book 20” by Christine Feehan;

Among the vampires there is a rumor about a persistant dark slayer, a woman who reveals with a pack of hunters looking for vampires to kill. Her reputation has been growing and growing and she is feared among many vampires.

She runs into the one she is fearful of as he evokes love as her life mate. There cannot be any help if she falls for his trickery and becomes a part of him. So she needs the help of her wolf pack.

This audio book is 15 hours long and is unabridged with the love and passions she tries to avoid.

“Dracula” by Bram Stoker;

This is the original Dracula and is registered as #11 in the NPR “Top 100 Killer Thrillers” List. It is a must have to just listen to and to compare how close the movie was to the original.

The Dracula mythology has inspired a vast subculture. The story has never been better told than by Stoker. He succeeds in his aim to terrify. As a result of his story he became an international and of lasting fame as a story writer. This is the book that is a must read if you love vampires and to read about the original vampire Dracula is something you cannot miss.

The audio book is 16 hours of unabridged terror and lust and introduces Van Helsing to the world. The narration is done by the Earphones Award winning Robert Whitfield of BBC fame.

Also, there are more sequels written by Bram Stoker that bring Dracula to England and more confrontations.

“Lifeblood” by P. N. Elrod;

This is a story about an investigative jouralist in the roaring twenty’s of Chicago. A man named Jack Fleming is bitten by a vampire and he becomes one. He finds himself gathering his old friends around him only to find out that there are a group of vampire hunters looking for him. He can’t figure out how they know about him but he is concerned for his friends who are not vampires getting caught in the crossfire to kill him.

So Jack is on a trail to find out who is after him and how to stop them from killing him again.

This book is a great listen to and is almost eight hours long of unabridged excitement.

“Micah” by Laurell K. Hamilton;

Raising the dead is easy but romance is hard. Micah has brought to life a wereleopard so that the FBI can question him about a case they have been working. This wereleopard was killed before he could provide his testimony and is needed now to avenge his death and close the case.

Micah and this wereleoaprd have a history and she is afraid that she will not be able to resist him. Thus the plot thickens.

The audio book is four hours of lust and adventure in an unabridged audio book.

“No Dominion” by Charlie Houston;

This is a story of a vampire who used to be a detective. He has morals and refuses to drink bood from the neck of a victum, so he buys blood to drink instead. There is one problem, he has not had a client for quite a while and is running out of blood and money to buy more.

In desperation he takes a job with a local vampire clan to stop a new drug that hurts their clan. He must find out who is making it and put them out of business.

This audio book is eight and one half hours of unabridged who-dun-it and sexual content.

“The Tangled Skeim” by David Syuart Davies;

Sherlock Holmes meets Dracula. The setting is 1888 London shortly after the Hounds and the Baskervilles Case. There is a newspaper account about young girls in a finishing school who have a mysterious illness that afflicts them and also about young children being attacked and left with bite marks on their necks.

A local lecture by an Amsterdam University Professor was to speak on a subject of vampires. The Professors name is Abraham van Helsing. Holmes goes to the town to find out what is going on only to find that he is being stalked by an assailant who may cost him his life.

The audio book is just a little over five hours.

“Dark Possession” by Christine Feehan;

A woman that has been lured to South America to help a battered woman is in danger of being possessed by a Carpathian man who is about to become a vampire. She is going to be his lover, her predator, her life mate and will never be released once caught in his spell.

So the story will weave it’s way throught the troubles of this meeting to be and the results of their meeting.

The audio book is a thirteen hour unabridged book.

“Bloodlist” by P.N.Elrod;

An ace reporter named Jack Flemming is chased by a thug and then shot in the back multiple times only he did not die. He then realizes that he has already died and is now a vampire. He kind of likes it though as he can sleep all day and travel about looking for his murderer during the night. The audio book is his story about being a vampire and chasing down his killer.

The audio book is eight and one half hours of unabridged adventure through the wacky world of the undead.
