Maximizing the Use of Metal
In the United Kingdom, there are hundreds of metal being recycled every year which is able to generate almost billions of UK pound as income. Just imagine how much revenue is generated for all other countries that conduct recycling. Most of the recycled materials are being exported to other countries so as to meet their demand for it while the remaining recycled materials are being processed again in the UK in order to produce even more metal. It is very useful and also very versatile to use for a wide range of items which can be utilized every day. Like for instance, you would often see it used in cars, aeroplanes, railway tracks, trucks, even in ships, different household appliances, ovens and also for packaging other items.
One of the main reasons why a lot of people opt to utilize it is because no matter how many times you would like to recycle it, it will not lose any of its properties or characteristics. This substance is a very important commodity. You should know that as soon this substance has been fully utilized, it can always be reused and produce metals again. At present, the most commonly used metals in the household are food cans as well as the cans of the soft drinks which anyone can normally buy.
It would not be difficult to tell Aluminium or Steel apart because by simply using magnets, you will notice that the Steel will immediately stick to the surface of the magnet, whereas the Aluminium will not stick. Because of this, recycling centres do not have a hard time sorting out the different kinds of metals unlike that of plastic recycling because of the complexity of the material itself. Normally, recycled metals are categorized under Ferrous or as non-Ferrous.
When it comes to recycling the most common waste metals like that of the cans used for food or beverages, the process is quite simple. What needs to be done is collect the different cans and should be sorted out as to whether it is made of Steel or Aluminium. The Steel cans shall be melted after sorting and will be brought again to the construction area. As for the pure metal, these are turned into a block of steel, also known as an ingot. This can also be made into cans and other kinds of metal products.
Cans that are made of Aluminium can be compressed and eventually melted. The impurities of the metal will have to be removed, and after which, it shall also be made into an ingot. This will now be rolled to form an Aluminium sheet before it can be transformed again into a can or another kind of product. Because of the quick turnaround time of Aluminium cans, these can easily get back to the shelves of a supermarket in just six weeks.
Nowadays, it can be seen that local authorities are allocating an appropriate area where the people can dispose their empty cans which can be found by the roadside or they can also go directly to a recycling area. These initiatives make it more convenient for the citizens to encourage other people to also dispose their cans and other metal objects properly.
