UFO Sightings in New York Capture the Attention of Local News Network

The recent UFO sightings in New York have captured the attention of the many people including local news networks.

After reviewing 27 of the recent UFO reports, I found two dates that I believe warrant additional attention.

The first event happened in Manhattan on October 13, 2010. This UFO sighting occurred in the daytime and was witnessed by hundreds of people and possibly more.

In an interesting departure from the standard operating procedure this UFO sighting was covered by at least one local news station.

A reporter from Fox News arrived at the scene in the early evening hours. She said she noticed a bright light in the sky that, at first, she just assumed was a star. However, her cameraman zoomed in on the object revealing not only a “tail” but also blue flashing lights. Unfortunately, there was no way for her to determine if this object was one that had been reported by people earlier in the day.

Earlier in the day, eye witnesses reported seeing up to 50 white objects in the sky. One person was interviewed by the reporter and he stated that the objects slowly vanished until finally, by the late afternoon, there were none left.

After some additional research I found that a celebration was going on in Times Square earlier in the day. It may be possible these daytime objects were simply balloons that were released as part of that celebration. However, I must point out that I have not found any information confirming the release of balloons as part of that celebration.

At any rate, the real event of interest here (at least to me) is the bright light in the evening sky that was reported, and captured on video, by the news station. Surely, if this was actually a simple balloon one would think the object would not have blue flashing lights on it. Another thing I have to ask is why would only one of 50 balloons remain visible for hours after all of the other balloons had disappeared from view?

In the end, this report is inconclusive in my opinion. Something was indeed in the sky over Manhattan that evening. Was it a balloon or was it something else? I would definitely welcome any firsthand information from people who were there at the time of these sightings.

The second UFO sighting in New York occurred in Orchard Park (located southeast of Buffalo) on the afternoon of November 11, 2010.

An eyewitness stated they had watched an object alter its shape. This event lasted for six minutes. As the object appeared to transform from a solid state to that of light or energy, the eyewitness said they took five photographs documenting this transformation.

This bizarre incident was reported to MUFON, the Mutual UFO Network, where it was entered in their database. You can confirm this sighting at the MUFON website.

According to the report filed to MUFON, this event was witnessed by at least two people.

At the time of this writing, December 14, 2010, I have not been able to confirm the existence of these photographs. Eyewitness statements are certainly important. However, I greatly prefer more tangible evidence in the form of video or photographs.

In 2010, New York had 21 UFO sightings in the month of October and 11 in November. Obviously, these are only the UFO sightings in New York that have been reported. For every sighting that is publicly reported there are always many more sightings that are only shared years later (with close friends and family) or never shared at all.
