It is easy to believe that designers just sit around and draw art all day. A minority of them do. But most commercial designers do not just sit around and draw art all day. In general, they take instructions from their clients or bosses before they draft out ideas. Once their ideas are rendered, they are presented to the client. After receiving instructions, the graphic designer will piece together the advertisement. The model’s image will be airbrushed to perfection and promotional text will be laid out on the advertisement. Then, the finished artwork will be rendered and sent for print.

Graphic designers can work in fields like: Publishing, Advertising, Magazines or Web Design.

2. A Fashion Designer Created the Armani Outfit:
In a well-established fashion company, the fashion designer will receive instructions from a creative or art director. Upon direction, an outfit will be drafted and designed. Freelance fashion designers have to create patterns, drape and develop the outfit.

Fashion designers career can specialize in genres like: women’s wear, men’s wear, children’s wear, sportswear, formal or haute couture.

3. A Jewellery Designer Made the Wedding Ring:
Jewellery designers work with a variety of materials to create jewellery for different purposes. Designs for jewellery can either be for mass production or one-off pieces. Custom-made designs involve sketching and rendering a client’s instructions. After approval, the jewellery will be crafted according to the design.

Creations of a jewellery designer include: wedding jewellery, costume jewellery or stage jewellery.

4. A Game Designer Worked with a Team to Create the Game:
Popular 3D computer video games with lots of special effects and Computer Graphic cut scenes require game designing teams to create them. Jobs in game design include: animating, level building, scenario writing and character designing.

Game designers work on games like: shooter games, role-playing games or app games.
