How To Get Rid Of Cellulite

Cellulite is the lumpy substance that is generally found on the thighs, stomach, pelvic region and buttocks after puberty. The dimpled appearance on the skin is due to the accumulation of fat under the surface of the skin. 90% of women develop cellulite during some part of their life. Several factors commence the development of cellulite in our body.

Female Hormones – Cellulite is more common in women than in men. The reason behind this is the presence of female sex hormones – estrogen and progesterone. Progesterone and estrogen stimulate the development of cellulite. On one hand estrogen fosters the growth of fat cells on the thighs, breasts and buttocks. On the other progesterone may lead to fluid retention and weight gain. This makes women more vulnerable to cellulite.

Stress – Prolonged stress and the increased growth of adrenaline can adversely affect the deposition of fat mainly around the stomach, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Sedentary lifestyle – An inactive lifestyle consequently leads to cellulite as it hampers blood circulation, the lymphatic and the venous system. Without any exercise our lymphatic fluid and venous blood becomes stagnant. As a result they exert a pressure on our veins and lymphatic vessels. These stretched veins and lymphatic vessels are prone to fluid retention and eventually lead to cellulite. Lack of exercise also hardens the connective tissues causing dimples.

Other causes are pregnancy, smoking, crash diets, lack of water etc. Cellulite also can be genetic sometimes.
