Every Woman Has a Right to Bear a Child

Women today are putting off having children until much later in life. Indeed, they put it off to such a time as when they are ready for the baby, noting happens! Of course, there are many reasons why a woman cannot conceive, but she will feel the guilt because she waited so long. There are many ways in which women can be helped these days, and the doctors who pioneered this treatment should be applauded for sure. For those who would like to know more about these services, try looking up ‘fertility clinic’ or ‘infertility treatment’ to see what is available in the local area.

The woman will obviously be put through a whole gamut of tests before doctors will try other methods of getting pregnant. It may be that her fallopian tubes are blocked, and this could be from past illnesses or genetic, which may be able to be unblocked with an operation. If the tubes are too scarred, they may have to be removed altogether. Of course, without these, the eggs cannot get to the womb so it is never going to happen.

Once it has been established that the woman has some difficulties, she will now undergo many tests to see if she still has viable eggs, if her womb will accommodate a baby or if she is mentally ready for the road ahead. Of course, before this, the man will also be tested to see if his sperm is viable too.

In some cases, men have what is known as ‘lazy’ sperm which do not swim straight or are very weak. The tails on the sperm may also be deformed or there could be no sperm at all in the ejaculate. Any of these problems could be the reason why the couple is not conceiving so there are plenty of tests to be done for sure.

If it is the woman who has the problem, then she will have to undergo several weeks or months of hormone injections to make her eggs ready for harvesting. This can be rather tedious and both partners have to endure the mood swings which come along with it. Once the eggs are ready though, it is time for the next stage.

The eggs are extracted through a thin needle place through the abdomen and each is checked for viability. Those which pass the tests are either used immediately or stored for future use. The ones to be used will be placed in a dish, along with the chosen sperm, which should fertilize them. Once fertilization has taken place, several of them will be replaced in the womb and this should result in a normal pregnancy from then on.

Although this last part is not always successful first time, and this is why the other eggs are frozen to use again in the future, this is a pioneering way of giving women that one thing that should be theirs as a right. We should all be grateful for great doctors for sure.
