For a quarter carat or less diamond that is set in 14 carat gold costs about $125 to $500; .3 to half carat diamond and set in 18 carat gold or platinum and is ASG/GIA certified costs around $750 to $1,000; for a .75 carat or smaller ASG/GIA certified diamond stones will cost $1,000 to $2,000; $2,000 to $3,000 is expected to cost for a 1 carat diamond set in 14 carat gold; $4,000 for a high quality 1 carat diamond set in 18 carat gold or platinum.
